What people need to realise is that the seven dwarves were main protagonists in Snow White. They were heroes who protected Snow White. They never lived in caves but in a cottage which Snow White dutifully looked after as these little people went off to do a hard days work every day in the mines. It was a very co-operative relationship and nothing demeaning towards little people.

Peter Dinklage was right. It is stupid to cater to wokism to turn the title character whose name is Snow White because she is so beautiful because her skin is as white as snow into a brown skinned latino. Dwarfs are depicted as cute little men that the beautiful woman stays with and is protected by but they are not any thing a beautiful woman wants and she falls in love with the normal sized man she never saw before. This reminds me of a few years ago here in the UK, when a wrestling troupe got forced to shut down, because they had some wrestlers who were Dwarves. Those wrestlers were devastated, because for them it was the potential end to a career, a career they had aspired to since childhood, having grown up watching WWF/WWE. Actually snow white is supposed to be very fair but with black hair. My sister could have played Snow White when she was younger. My family were half Italian and a fourth Norwegian and Irish. My Mother had Lily white skin and my father had darker olive color skin. I have light olive skin but my older sister got the very fair skin. It's a melting pot out there. Fair skin, brown skin, black skin, and red skin and yellow skin are beautiful.

Nut Brown and the Seven Miners? Maybe it'll be set in the gold rush where... the Big Bad causes a mine collapse when she figures out that the Seven Miners were harboring Nut Brown, and then Nut Brown uses Nature Powers to dig them out or something? It replaces identity politics with environmentalism, but it might work. And the big bad is jealous of, and hunting down, Nut Brown because of... Big ComPaNy nO lIkE NaTuRe or TrEEs... and Big Bad sunburns instead of tans so they're jealous, and resentful of Nut Brown's work ethic/unlikely prosperity, or just a greedy xenophobic tyrant. Or, maybe Nut Brown couldn't get a job back east so they're "chased" out west by the biggest bad, SoCiEtY. And the Big Bad is no one person, but aspects of it are shown throughout in different circumstances/characters. The Poison Apple could be selling a land deed/claim (cut losses, take money and run), but Nut Brown doesn't fall for it, so then the mine collapse > public auction for deceased miner's mine plan is enacted. *You make the skin color actually matter in the story and then it's important that Snow White is "not white"*, and it's important that the story gets retold, not for no reason, (not just to sell a live action remake) but because otherwise it wouldn't fit in the story. *This is Nut Brown's story now.* Just keep the theme of "work hard and be pure of heart (and flee from people who would harm you & keep good company)... and eventually your problems will be shot by lightening, fall off a cliff, and crushed by a boulder, and you'll live happily ever after." I don't know what Prince Charming's kiss would equate to in Nut Brown's story... they strike gold? Nut Brown can succeed out west in a way that she couldn't back east?

The problem is it isn’t progressive. The people calling themselves progressive nowadays are actually at the opposite end of the scale- they’re *regressive* . There’s a couple of tests to find where someone actually stands. The MLK Jr. test is one- if someone is violating the ideals of MLK Jr. in his I Had A Dream speech, then that’s pre-1963 thinking, thus regressive (MLK Jr.’s philosophy was so foundational and well-written, we’ve given him the only USA holiday named after a single person, and all progressive ideals since must build on and refine that foundation in order to be legitimate). There’s also the He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named-Who-Headed-Germany-In-The-Early-1940s Test- basically, if any modern ideology starts mirroring that guy’s speeches on who should be punished and for what reasons, then it’s regressive, back to 30s/40s thinking.
