@@lindamorgan7855 what rock have you been living under? A person being convicted, given the maximum sentence, and actually serving the full sentence they were given almost never happens. Charges are almost always reduced, some are dropped all together, most sentences are ridiculously light , and the only people who serve their full sentence are those who were sentenced to life without parole. Our justice system is a fucking joke.

I was nearly killed in a car accident in high school, 37 years ago today. My friend was goofing off and lost control, slammed us head-on into a palm tree. He still had his paper license from the DMV, he was such a new driver. I was the worst out of four of us, spent the last month of my senior year in the hospital, missing graduation and saying goodbye to school friends I'd known for years (different time today, with social media). Another friend who was in the accident was in an ambulance his mom drove past, unaware he was in it. We were only a few hundred yards from our destination, in a residential neighborhood, where the speed limit was 25 MPH. Losing control, my friend slammed the gas instead of the brake, getting us up to about 40 before that tree jumped out in front and stopped us. One friend slammed into the windshield from the back seat, only his foot under the front seat kept him from head-butting that tree. Broke all the bones in said foot, and still has glass that works its way out of his forehead to this day. The driver broke both arms from the steering wheel, which was imprinted on his chest. Had to have his broken jaw wired and teeth replanted. The guy behind me had only a concussion. I actually don't remember the accident or two days after, since I was also concussed. My wallet was found in the tree, and I've been told I was freaking out, running into someone's house. I broke my thumb, but also ruptured my intestines from the seat belt, which was only a lap belt in that car. Friends said that after the driver picked us up earlier, it was my suggestion to put on our seat belts, as they weren't in common usage at the time (mom's arm across the chest was the norm). The guy who hit the windshield from the back was the only one unbuckled. Had the two of us in the front not been, we probably wouldn't have survived.

This attorney makes me sick with his overuse of our condolences; there is not an ounce of authenticity in his words. The parents don't even speak English, how long have they been in the country. Marko the innocent victim whose loss was expressed through his close friend's tremendous agony is heartbreaking. Yes, this makes me angry.

It's not their fault that they don't speak Engrish. The attorney is only doing what he is legally and financially obligated to do. It makes no difference to him. He gets to go home and chill. It's just another day at the office. He can't bring the kid back! 🤷‍♂️

Every day, about 37 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes - that's one person every 39 minutes. In 2022, 13,524 people died in alcohol-impaired driving traffic deaths. These deaths were all preventable.Unadjusted national crime statistics from 2016 indicate that among all individuals arrested for a DUI, 82% were White, 23% were Latino, 14% were Black, and 2% were American Indian. Know I'm not defending this criminal and justice we'll be served (that the beauty of this country) however the ugly side of it, is you and the like of you.

You don't have to speak english to be an american. It's actually very unamerican to think this way. We are a melting pot. The parents have an adult child who made a huge mistake but the parents did nothing wrong. And it is actually a classy move to be more concerned with the victims than your own blood.

@_Smarf_ ppl need to communicate to be a nation, they kinda do need to speak English to be fully American. At least making an effort to learn. Really disrespectful to come to a country and make no effort to learn the lingua franca.

Insane drivers out there now. We have successfully avoided a few nasty incidents. How are these people still driving?

We here, are bracing for another insane tourist season. Where one takes their lives in their hands, each time they start their car. . Had 3 close calls just over this weekend! And it hasn’t even officially begun. 🤮

How is it that the victim died and the DUI driver lived?

You're actually often more likely to survive a crash if you're wasted bc you tend to not tense up like you do when you're sober. Cruel twist to tragedies like this.

You would be surprised how often that happens. I don't know if we just notice it more because it seems do unjust or if there is a statistical analysis that bears it out . I do know people have brought up drunks surviving fatal crashes for decades

I’ve long theorized professionally that when one is inebriated or high on any substance, their body significantly relaxes. This causes a more flexible physiology, they become like a rag doll that rolls w impact. In fact, didn’t it say Kim flew out and onto a yard?
