I used to go to playgroup there in the late 1970's/early 1980's. I know it 1996 it still had an old fashioned rocking horse with a psychotic painted grin that freaked me out when I was about 3, it also had an old analogue telephone exchange board with the plug in wires that kids could mess about with, there was also an old tractor bolted down and painted in rainbow colours in the playground. In the 2000's I used to have some student friends from Dartington College who lived there, the dorms were used as halls of residence then so I've been up there having a beer and a smoke late at night. It was a really nice place then and very cosy, it's sad to see it like that. When it was a private school it did have some unfortunate goings on there including a student "allegedly" being murdered by a local man who was eventually acquitted due to lack of evidence, but that's a whole documentary on its own.

People think that families have to be rich to send there children to boarding schools , but children who's parents are both in the armed forces and are stationed abroad go to boarding schools, also children who get scholarships

Wow! What an impressive spot that would have been in its time 😮 Such a shame they've let the elements take hold quite as much as they have 😢 I suspect that 90% of the bric-a-brac items in there were used as 'stage set dressing' during performances, as a lot would have been used to make it seem like a house say, or a room, But my favourite item, that Bell, man that was a stunning bit of engineering, a huge shame it wasted in there, but a huge task moving it 😊 Looked like you guys got spooked at the end 😂 Another cracking video Ben, Keep up the fantastic uploads mate 👌🏻 All the best, Mark 👍🏻

In the gymnasium with the basketball court, there is a figure standing up in the observation area, toward the left, looking down into the room.

it reminds of my college built in the same style to same flooring to would of been so lovely back in the day to sad to see it look so sad now we had a bell tower to with a bell the building still stands it now converted in to houses they could do it with this to got so much going for it but a lot of work and repair to all the damage done by sad people to but its a great building just hope some day it gets saved and done up again to great explore too 🙂

A boarding school in west Cumbria closed 10years ago, due to lack of funding, it was empty for 4 years, until a young rich family reopened it, back as a boarding school.

What a beutifull mansion. Perhaps it was better to use it for homeless, or turn it into flats. There is a shortage of homes for people to live in. Instead, this building has be left to rot.😥💗💗💗

This is one big place to be a family mansion. I think it has been closed for more than four years, cause it is in real bad shape. I think it has been closed at least ten years or more. Just my opinon.
