That would be perfectly karmic. Although I'd like the dev to also add an ending/path where you get to rebel and sabotage/mess them up too. Not all of us would sign up for this or play along after all. I was also hoping that one of the things you have to crush would bite you. @aquablast315524 күн бұрын
@@BrenLan Follow these logic carefully: 1. The OP is talking about adding an ending where you get squished like a bug, much like how you squish those bugs without a care. 2. My comment to the OP's idea is that, that'd be karmic. Just as these bugs are nothing to many of us, we're also nothing to a corporate like the one in this game-- a corporate that can create life freely. And THAT is where my suggestion of adding a option to rebel/sabotage comes in, because otherwise, you'd be locked into an ending where you get squished like a bug. Makes sense? I'd assume this is a kind of an allusion on how working in fast food chains feels like, you're doing something important for others but the process is so mundane that you become sick of it. Also, I like how your boss is never actually present in your workplace, only making him a floating talking head that gives you commands. I'd like to add that when I took a sociology elective, there was a term of "macdonaldization" that makes a job go the way McDonalds has turned into: strictness of performance (do it in the intended way only), alienation from the work (you don't feel like it's you who works as a whole, but only a part of you that performs commands) But that's only how I saw this game, not sure what exactly the creator intended to comprehend from it.

There seem to be some confusion over the horror... I mean, yeah, if you don't think about it, and don't have a thing against crushing bugs (most don't), then there's nothing horror (or even uncomfortable) about it. It's just... a weird routine. But I'd say the horror/uncomfortableness is implicit: If we can create a bat or a frog like this, then what's stopping us from making a dog or cat? And then, what's stopping us from, say, making humans with one of these recipes? And then, just remember what we are told to do to those that are "not in the order". There's something messed up, being able to create life easily, but also directly deposing them without a care like this. It's one thing to create things with a purpose (even if those beings would ultimately cease to be), but another to go "Whoops, too many! Get rid of the extra".

@@Proserpira Yeah, jam game. But I actually do think they could have done more as well, and that includes doing a bit more/trying harder to make people feel uncomfortable (as I believe this is an "uncomfortable horror"). Although I think a lot of us do feel a bit of dissatisfaction with this game because there's definitely untapped potential here.

@@aquablast3155 Agreed! I love psychological horrors films, and those are very much an "either you feel it or you don't" kind of thing, since the horror aspect is based on the possibility of identifying and being in the exact same situations as the victims on screen. The game could use a lot more expanding. Like what are the creatures used for? Who is ordering them? Could be food for animals-- like maybe the bugs are for frogs, and then frogs are for bigger animals. In fact having the end to be creating humans be something else' food might be a good way to end it. Alternatively, I was hoping they'd let us sabotage the whole operation. The whole thing felt a bit wrong, so it was weird we had to do as they say and not get any alternative way to progress. (Such as being able to send the creatures back without crushing them, and without getting a game over for doing that.) (But yeah, made in 3 days.) ... At least, they _could_ be pets. @@RiotforPeacePlzthat's a strange thing to say. War already is a thing in many countries. After Ukraine was attacked, many regular people went to become soldiers voluntarily to defend their home. One of the first things I've seen about our soldiers while hiding from shellings in a bomb shelter, were the many different videos of them saving, feeding and caring for the very different animals who are also dealing with war. I've seen soldiers jump into trash pits to rescue a frightened hedgehog. A soldier letting a squirrel sleep under his chin for warmth. And of course a TON of cats and dogs either lost or abandoned in the front lines, adopted by soldiers and cooed at like they're lil babies. If a person doesn't feel comfortable about hurting another life - that's good. Sometimes it's necessary to do, but there's nothing wrong about feeling bad or upset about it. Empathy is very important, ESPECIALLY during war, is what I've learned.

Cool for game jam but way too simplistic for anything else. Needs an edge or something. It's close to having a satisfying game loop its just not there yet. Maybe some sort of purchasing element with some bugs being sold for cash in order to buy more bugs and others sent/donated for the science/order aspect? More expensive bugs take longer and have fancier recipes but sell for more? Different cooking machines and different intervals for each bug? Caterpillar cooks for 3 seconds in microwave then cooled in defroster for 4 then moved to hatching array for 10 seconds. As your progress you can automate the cooking elements. You find a recipe that produces an expensive bug but flood the market so it drops in price? Idk. There's something here.

I was expecting to leave the room and get locked into a room full of these critters and being devoured/pestered by them.
