Horror Mayhem was so much fun. Jack and Jill sounds good. I really liked Night Shift.

Great video. Jack and Jill looks interesting! Night shift is so good! It was my first King book, when I was a teenager.

Great Wrap-Up! I love Kealan Patrick Burke and want to read more by the author. I have not read Turtle Boy or Kin but absolutely loved Sour Candy and Blanky. He does get really weird and dark, I love it. I will definitely read Jack and Jill. I think Stephen King was going through a tough time financially and he just wanted to be published anywhere. I am not sure if this was before Carrie, but I think it was and the King family were struggling to put bread on the table, if you know what I mean. Saying that Night Shift is an excellent collection, but my favorite will always be Skeleton Crew. Still need to read Grady Hendrix. 🐶🐕

Ah, that all makes sense. I haven’t read Skeleton Crew… I am just beginning my foray into Stephen King… but I will!

What a great Horror MAYhem you had. This was my first and I absolutely loved it. Read some things I will never pick up again but mostly I loved what I read. Can’t wait till next year 😊🐶🐶

KPB is such a fantastic writer. Sour Candy was decent/somewhat good but Kin was an absolute masterpiece. I also read Dead Leaves by him which was just okay - but I still plan on checking out his other work, and probably Jack & Jill at some point as well.
@BookBlather5 ай бұрын
Dead Leaves was my least favorite of his books that I’ve tried so far, but I still enjoyed it. You want a good KPB story collection, try Dead of Winter if you haven’t already. Has one of the most unsettling stories I’ve ever read.

Sounds like a good end to Horror Mayhem! Jack and Jill sounds interesting. I didn’t get much horror read in May, but that’s okay because I have some fantastic horror reads on my TBR for June.

Strawberry Spring, though predictable, is one of my favorite King short stories. Night Shift is a strong collection. 💚🐶

Not sure about King, but Harlan Ellison who published in adult magazines said he published there because, as you suggested, they were easy it get published it and the editors published them the way the writer preferred (very little editing). 🐶🐕🐩

SPOILER ALERT 🐕 Hey I finished No Blade of Grass it was as interesting as it is unknown! I actually thought it would go all the way into the hopeless apocalyptic nightmare for a while, but it partly pulled back in the end with the "hope" of John becoming the "great leader." Though it still left some doubt there in my view. A good recommendation thanks 👍 Thanks also for the recommendation of Burke who I'm not familiar with 👍

Glad you enjoyed it! I thought it packed an awful lot in there for the length. KPB is awesome, and so many of his books are really short, so low commitment.

I’m about halfway through it now and digging it so far, but we’ll see! Now that you mention it, I guess it does feel a little YA. Main character is 24, I think?
