More About "Laboratory Conditions":
At a hospital, late one night, a physician discovers that one of her patients is missing, and likely has passed away, as he was not expected to survive the night. The physician tracks the body to a nearby medical school, where students are in the midst of an illicit experiment. The physician faces an ethical dilemma that puts her clinical judgment up against the amoral ambition of the chair of the graduate school of neuroscience. Even if the doctor can save her patient, what about the next one? And the one after that? At what point should human compassion outweigh research science and “the need to know”?

People are commenting that they'd watch this if it were a longer movie. I would too. But I like the fact that there's no wasted time in this. Just a solid story in a very short time.
@vincemartinez171

Making it longer would only drag out the events leading up to the point where this short film takes place, perhaps even beyond. I think the ending is the perfect point to end, opening the chamber would turn the story into a full blown horror movie.

In the East, we say when we die, our family shall start a funerap within 3 days, We will make noise to drive away evil spirits, not only to protect the dead, but also to protect the living. They would have big names if this was the 90’s. But the fact is that for older women, parts are few and far between. I mean hell, they even felt like they had to cast someone young for “Napoleon” to play his wife, when in reality the real Josephine was a decade older than him. So it’s not really much of a mystery.

It must be really, nice for these actors and actresses to get a break from the insanity of AAA projects and do smaller, shorter more cohesive passion projects like these. Since acting is definitely an artform I imagine doing high quality, short film projects like these helps keep creative juices flowing while providing an outlet for their art. I think the docter could always see the dead. However usually they move on quickly, to soon for her to see them. The girl that was singing, you could see her carrying a baby in the box. But she was also outside the box. I think that was her daughter who was pregnant when she died. That thing they trapped was in my opinion satan trying to get the man his soul before god could. When it was stuck i think it transformed into the docters daughter(the girl that was singing) to trick the docter in to letting it out so it could take more souls. I do think the other docter who wanted to go inside didn’t die as i think that demonic creature can only take the souls of the dead.

I don't understand the people asking for a "full movie" here. This IS a full movie. It just doesn't have a bunch of meaningless fluff added to it. This is a case where less truly is more. Sure, I'd like to know what happened when they opened the door, but that would only need to add another few seconds to it. What else do you think would be added? A bunch of nonsense of the doctor going about her life at home, dealing with a cheating spouse, etc.? The creators of this film did an expert job of giving precisely what was needed to leave a meaningful impact. We need more of this where we get quality over quantity. Quibi had a good idea that just wasn't economically feasible. These types of short films would work better as a feature-length compilation like Cat's Eye or Trick 'r Treat. I'd pay to see a full anthology with this level of quality.

Wow what an ending. If you're going to do a cliff hanger then this is how you do it. This type of short makes you want to see more big name actors and actresses doing a short film. The quality with this one was top notch and the story was compelling. The soul has always been linked to faith and this one explores the idea of finding scientific proof. I love that the story did not shy away from the obvious ethics involved. The special effects looked fantastic and the malevolent/evil entity was legit terrifying. Driver and Tormei were excellent and surrounded by a strong supporting cast. Great work to all involved from writer, director, cast and crew. This was a great watch and a high recommend. Peace.

I'll echo all of the comments here. Fantastic! I would definitely love to see a full-length feature of this (Hollywood, are you listening?). And how Marisa Tomei's character and the other guy were in on the whole thing. Minnie Driver, top-notch performance. All the acting was great, and Paolo Costanza played his role on point as--how is it this guy was not more well known after he nearly stole the show in 40 Days And 40 Nights? That's another film I'd like to see a sequel for.

Thank you for making this. I love shorts and this one didn't disappoint. It's normally a bit frustrating to read comments from people who can't just enjoy what there is without having to have it all laid out for them. Some people are so hungry for sequels and feature-length reproductions when the short if perfect as it is.... but in this case, it's just ironic, given the subject of the short.
@JHJHJHJHJH
@JHJHJHJHJH 11 ай бұрын
Second most frustrating is when people write out what they've just seen as if it's adding something to the conversation. I like to read the comments to get other takes on these shorts and little details I may have missed. It's usually an interesting conversation. But I do have to chuckle when someone just writes out what they've just seen as if it's some profound observation. What is the purpose of doing this?

Why do people keep saying "this needs to be full length"? Do you realize this is great BECAUSE its not full length? A 15 minute story stretched out to 90 minutes with what? A romantic sub-plot? Side characters as comic relief? A lunch scene in the cafeteria with 8 minutes of exposition? No This is a short, they tell the story, show the story, end the story And the story they tell, is a great story
