Wow. No words. Just what an amazing film. As someone who is a SA survivor this one really hit me hard. The battles we fight in our head, the isolation, the medicating, self medicating, PTSD, not being able to sleep, and waking up in fear. Such a well done film.

There is a poem I once read that has stuck with me for decades and helped me articulate what I feel like this film is portraying. I'm not sure who wrote it, because I read it in a book of short stories looooong ago, but here it is: 'The puppet thinks: It's not so much what they make me do, as their hands inside me' It has been 27 years since I left my father's house, and my body still remembers.

I cannot express how haunting and effective this was. It hit me in the gut in the last few seconds. This short film really resonated with me personally. It’s a great representation of how I personally felt in the early days after my rape/attempted murder. I started experiencing sleep paralysis for the first time after my attack. I still experience it to this day despite my assault having occurred 12 years ago. Every single time I hear breaking glass and heavy footsteps approaching me. All the while I lay there frozen, anticipating the attack for what feels like forever.

Great movie. My opinion on this movie is that she is fighting a battle with her personal demons because she was SA'D. Every time she fell asleep, she was frozen and couldn't move while being attacked. It showed she was helpless and her attacker had all the power. I completely understand she dreamt she was under attacked by an incubus demon when she was asleep and at first it felt great, but then it became evil. Isolation is the worst thing for mental health and people can go into physcosis. Especially after a traumatic event. She was assaulted. You can tell by what the was in the last shot. She was dreaming of being assaulted. The voicemail message and her reaction to it. Her throwing the phone was the guy apologizing. She was traumatized and took her own life. Her demons in her head got to her. My opinion. Noone else had commented a breakdown of this yet which is why I did. Edit: I see people comment about this film and about the feelings that were brought up because of their own experiences. My father is serving 2 life sentences without parole in Florida State for committing sick and evil crimes against. He did not take a life yet he received that sentence. That is how heinous his crimes were. I have to stay updated with VINE just so I am aware every time that he transfers prisons, programs, or goes to the medical bay. I long for the day the text reads he is gone from this world. This film will connect deeply to survivors of childhood SA or adult SA. Great film altogether.

Amazing. What a gut wrenching, vividly real film for so many of us women. I have been so blessed to have been one of the more fortunate ones who didn’t let what happen to me completely consume me and swallow me up. But I can understand how that could happen. My SA happened my junior year in high school. I was never a ‘cool kid’ But I got invited to a very ‘cool kid’ party by a senior I had a huge crush on. I was a stoner kid. Never really a drinker. Just never tickled my fancy. At the party, my crush smoked with me and then started handing me shots. I was young. Dumb. Influenced. Shy. Nervous. I just wanted to be accepted. Fit in. I wanted…to be a cool kid too. So he asked me if I wanted to smoke with him, of course I said yes. He led me to a room, with a bowl. It started as a smoke, then some innocent kissing, and I wasn’t ready for anymore…little did I know that this night I would not have a choice. I did not get the option to refuse. I was held down, and abused and left cryin on the floor as his friend walked in and said ‘dude…wtf did u do??’ With a response…’nothin she didn’t want. It’s cool.’ I climbed out the window of that room, into the pouring rain storm that had started and I walked almost 4 miles to my best friends house who let me come in and got me together and held me as I cried for hours. And then I had to finish 6 more months of school with this boy sitting right behind me in class and staring at the back of my head. Every now and then he would twirl my hair between his fingers or trace his fingers along my neck and it made me so sick. Smh today, I don’t let it eat me alive. He has no power over me. I am a force to be reckoned with. My mind is free and my heart is open and loves freely. I will never give that BOY the satisfaction to kno he broke me, even for a second. I will continue to power on. I hope every woman who has been thru this shit know that only she has the power to take her life back! Once she does…what a beautiful life it is!!! ❤

it's very messed up that he called her... nothing he said would've helped, but at least he acknowledged that what he did was real real bad... I've been assaulted by 2 different people in different stages of my life but none of them ever came forward and apologized... not that it would make any difference, but at least I would then know that they're not some self-righteous, narcissistic piece of shit that have no conscience... alas, the feeling of regret, guilt and disgust in these situations are one sided... and it's on the one acted upon, while the scum walks around with no stain on their conscience... it's not fair, life is not fair and everything sucks... suicide is absolutely NOT the way to go but I don't blame her for choosing that route

I was thinking this exact thing, and how I'd feel if my father called me out of the blue and told me that. We haven't spoken in 22 years. You're right that it wouldn't help, but it would feel good to know that he feels awful about it. Idk if it makes me a bad person, that I don't want to forgive him, and want him to suffer with the knowledge of what he did. I don't think he ever will, and it makes me mad that he's presumably still alive and going about his life thinking he is a good and righteous person.

Spoilers I absolutely LOVE how Mary had her rapist confessing on voicemail as well as a ton of loving, supportive family members and obviously sought some kind of sexual assault crisis support, and STILL chose to end it. It's so easy to remove yourself from everything and self destruct instead. I was raped and had a similar network of support, but sexual trauma damages you in such a fundamental way, sometimes all the help in the world doesn't make the pain seem any less unbearable. To anyone reading this, please reach out for help and support if you need it. It's never "too bad" or "not bad enough". No one should ever go through what Mary went through. Thank you for making such a raw and honest portrayal of how sexual trauma can affect us. I also love the touch with the rapist crying like HE'S the victim. Great job to everyone who made this, and great job to the phenomenal actress that executed this role perfectly ❤

That minute when she was walking backwards I got seasick. This was like a 3D experience so I wonder what it would be like to actually do this in 3D. Also her acting was superb. I knew what she was going through and the use of the shower and her trying to get the filth of her was spot on. The thing is though I also took it that creepy thing was actually there as the room would get colder...I have had energy suckers take the heat from a room. The ending really hit and I just feel sad now but great short and also loved the use of the boat for all of it except the first moment. Great job all around.

I thought the same thing. If you believe in the paranormal you know that evil things feed off of negative emotions like fear. When she was touching herself and immediately there was the demon... gave me chills. Trauma and feeling guilty for having normal human needs was like a beacon. It was heartbreaking and scary as hell. Sleep paralysis is one of the scariest things someone can experience. SA is life changing and for some life ending. Female or male. It's something we never forget. I was drugged but I get flashbacks and I still carry physical scars. It never leaves you. Stopped going to a place that I thought I was safe in because I was supposedly surrounded by "friends". This actress was spot on. So was your comment.

this reminded me so much of my sleep paralysis, but different demons sometimes, I have a demon like this, my awful story lasted 2 1/2 years, from the age of 15 to 17 1/2, from someone I trusted and was my uncle, I don't mind sharing my story cuz it has helped alot of people, to let them know its ok, you're not alone, nothing was your fault... and I'm 34 now and still have nightmares from all those years ago of those 2 1/2 years of mortal hell, but my sleep paralysis is a different story and alot of this hit me so hard....I felt like people were seeing ME in this video, and that's not a bad thing, the understanding of what it does to you..... All I can say is Thank you for making this, truly, it can help others so much, and let others kind of see the mental toll that happens to someone that's gone through...ya know that hell... so thank you! 💕❤‍🩹❤‍🩹💕💔💔💕💓

OMG when I saw that flyer at the end, all I could do was say OMG no wonder she was going through what she was !!! My first tipoff should of been the way she hid so quickly from the jogger, and the showers because she felt unclean, then of course the incubus because of the trauma she went through, then the final shower, after hearing from the abusive boyfriend Presumably, I didn't see the hanging coming!!! Great video with a lot of impact on the terrible, awful, traumatic experience OF RAPE!!! GaryBailey God of Thunder and Lightning 🌩️⚡🍀💚❤️🌹

Excellently acted but the ending..no.. for people who gave been assaulted and robbed of any peace this is not the message or the solution. Her Mother tried to contact her for days why dudbt she pick up, if i hadn't been able to get hold of my daughter, plusethe circumstances wild horses wouldn't have stopped me from going there. Isolation is probably the worst idea with such trauma.

That was a true one woman show ❗Absolutely charismatic actress 👏👏 and the picture is strong. The message is clear at the end but I have to say that incubus are sexual astral male beings who give actually pleasure through sexual dreams and they feed themselves of course with the sexual essence ... ... The rape monster should maby named by another title...
@tomcat1517

I have a reason to think that "incubus" in this case means "nightmare" in latin. It makes sense, considering that the woman is a rape victim.

@@tomcat1517 yes incubo and incubare is actually a Latin word that means nightmare but the folkloric mysticism indicates that incubus seduse sleeping females and succubus seduse sleeping men....These are actually mysticism from Mesopotamia that came to our times...
