We just want to say the entire ALTER team is very excited and happy to see the sheer amount of positive comments. For a film like this, that tackles tough topics regarding body shaming and bullying, to feature comments that are kind and thoughtful is heart-warming to us. The world is not always a great place, and in crazy times like this, it's likely easier than ever to lose our sense of compassion. However, the ALTERed many in here have shown us otherwise. Just because you were wronged, it doesn’t give you the right to wrong others. That’s a very unhealthy way of thinking. A lot of people that go through trauma and are abused early on, become abusers later on in life, because they didn’t get proper guidance and help when they needed. This type of thinking is a result of that. Don’t fall in the same trap, be better, be smarter, don’t wish harm upon those lost souls that had you as a target to dump their own trauma onto you… Violence is a vicious cycle and you are a perpetrator if you really relate to this emotionally charged, unhinged, comment. “Deserve” is the wrong way to look at it. Think about it. BE BETTER.

@@DiogoSilva-uq2so it's a film. And people have every right to feel how they want to feel about the clear villains of the story. @@PhazonVoorhees “a film” evokes real world experiences and events. I prefer this over the movie. Unlike the one in the movie, it’s kind of right to assume that instead of lusting after her, he felt a kinship towards her, probably because he was horrifically bullied in his youth. Until one day he snapped. He was there watching them drown her and it all came back to him. It’s kind of funny how a killer had more kindness in them than the “normal” girls. He basically did her a favor, though. She either would’ve killed them herself, becoming another serial killer, or would’ve killed herself to escape her suffering. I couldn’t help but feel how lucky this girl was on that day. Yes, the whole general situation sucked from her weight’s self consciousness, to what appeared to be some cognitive issues, to epic middle school bullying. But, she was lucky on that day. That she did not see the body in the water and the ‘boyfriend’ assumed she was in on the situation. That the idiot boys in the car did exactly what you expected them to do, but did not take advantage of the situation further, spurred on by peer pressure/mob mentality. That she was able to escape the ‘boyfriend’ by gesturing a wave, which allowed him to think she was on his side. (Yes, he had already dropped the backpack, but I was not taking for granted that she was safe at that point or that the backpack was not bait.) Sara reminds me of a relative of mine, who, with some family support and some good luck, did the best she could with the crappy hand she was dealt with in life. Sara is a true survivor. I wish all the Saras in this world the best. And remember “if you wait by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by.” You don’t always have to *be* Karma - Karma sometimes comes to you

Body shaming and harrassment are different. An adult might shame a fat person as for being concerned for a healthy community. What is shown in this video is harrassment, which is totally wrong. This short hurt to watch. My sister, whom I'm very close to, has spent most of her life overweight. Like this actress, my sister has a significant scar on her belly because of a childhood accident. In fact, my sister's scar is much bigger. Anything to do with pools, public showers, etc, is difficult for a lot of people, but especially my sis. Yeah, it was hard to see the denegrating scenes and I do think that the actress must have a lot of confidence in real life to have engaged in this project.

The bikini top was good, the bottom was - probably deliberatly - a little too small and thus emphasized her padding in an unfavorable way from behind and also emphasizing the belly flap that hung over it. Also the big dimple of her belly scar (cesarian? badly done liposcution in the past?) was a bit unsetteling. A great acting performance for sure, it takes a lot of courage to act in such a vulnerable role. Also I did find her quite attractive, she is curvy in all the right places and would look stunning in a more favorable bathing suit.

Some people can’t control their weight, and I think this short film really shows the insecurity’s a individual can have based on how they look. Nobody should be bullied for their appearance, especially if you don’t know the full story behind it. If you’re reading this just know you’re amazing, you’re here for a reason and try to look on the bright side. You don’t need to change, everyone can be beautiful in their own way and I’m sure that things will turn up.

@The_torero4 жыл бұрын
@Soleilsonira ...It really isn't. You need to read up on and educate yourself on fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome, certain cancer treatments etc.
@The_torero4 жыл бұрын
@Soleilsonira ..You need to do more research. Like you mentioned, your gf is ONE example and an anecdote. You do realise PCOS comes in different severity levels, don't you? Some woman barely have any symptoms. Some women have moderate symptoms that can be managed with diet and avoiding certain foods that cause inflammation in the body, and then there's some women who are affected so badly that they gain weight, can grow a full beard like a man and be left sterile, so can't have babies. Medical conditions are not a "one size fits all", and affect people mildly, moderately and severely.
@The_torero4 жыл бұрын
@Soleilsonira ...You did not read what I said properly. I never insinuated your girlfriend had "no symptoms". Read it again. And if you are not a doctor or did not study medicine (which I did) then you are not qualified to make such statements. There has been evidence that certain medicines (Warfarin being one of them) can cause the cysts on the ovaries to shrink, thus balancing the hormones. This, in turn, may have aided your girlfriend's weight loss, so it is not as black & white as you might think. There have also been cases of people who have had a healthy, balanced diet but have still gained weight due to hormone fluctuation, cancer treatments or steroids. In these cases, the person cannot cut their calorie intake down significantly because their bodies would start going into starvation mode which slows down the metabolic rate causing MORE weight gain in the long run. It seems you have done some research on weight loss, but not enough outside of that to make such generalisations.

I think that the really scary thing is that Sara can’t possibly help these girls. She surely can’t outrun or outfight an adult, 100% armed man. The last minutes were the scariest for her because she spent them thinking that she’ll be the next victim, and she knew that if he wanted he could easily add her to the collection of corpses. THAT was the scariest part, especially for a young girl - to be completely at mercy of a violent stranger

Jenni Tulls , dude, he was a killer. He didn’t kill those girls because of high morals, he killed them because they annoyed him and he had no problem with beating some girls to death. Actually helping the protagonist would be defending her when she was drowning, calling cops on those bitches, helping Sara to get home. Did he try to shoo away the girls and assist Sara? No. He stalked a bunch of chicks and destroyed them. He was not helping her, he was getting rid of a nuisance I assumed that Sara might think about helping them because seeing someone bleed and scream is a bit horrifying. Some people have empathy. She may or may not want the girls to die, but that’s not the point I was trying to make. The point is that she could have just as well become a victim of this guy cause she happened to be a witness, and her survival is not a grand gesture of sympathy, it’s a whim

Think of it more like a modified pond than a swimming pool with filters, chlorine, etc. It would be like swimming in a fish pond. Something I think that should be noted is, how could Sara have possibly helped the girls, even if she wanted to? The killer only gave her back her stuff when he realized she wasn't going to interfere with what he was doing. And how could she have possibly overcome an obviously experienced killer? He would only have killed her too.

This story reminds me Mexican old-wives tales. I used to work with a woman who's grandmother lived in the same small town near the border as my grandmother. Both were Mexicans. They may have known each other. This woman's grandmother used to keep her grandkids in line by telling stories like this one. Her stories would begin something like this: "You think bullying a fat girl is funny? Let me tell about what happened to so and so . . ." By the end of her story, she'd have all her grandkids wide-eyed and terrified. I don't remember my grandmother telling me stories like this, but my mom knew that side of her. They kept order in the house with guilt and fear.

@rociomiranda56844 жыл бұрын
There are two levels of horror in this film: the obvious one with the serial killer and the deeper horror of the cruelty and the torture Sara is put through for no reason at all. The bullies are as brutal as the murderer, and it's a fantastic, controversial, great twist that he has a certain decency and even compassion for Sara. Empathy, I would say. He witnessed the bullying. It's twisted that he ends up being a more sympathetic character than his intended victims. I like stories that challenge my vision of life. Also, the main actress offers a magnificent, heart wrenching performance. She wins our sympathy and we root for her, so at the end we can't judge her. She has suffered so much, and since they know her name, I imagine it isn't the first time the girls have tormented her. The scene when she and the man understand each other through the rearview mirror is excellent. You can see all the process of her thoughts and emotions in the last scene, when she makes her decision. Not a line of dialogue, but, oh, that's real acting. I'm looking forward to seeing her in other films.

But then I guess you also have to think about what the drivers gonna do if you try to help cuz there’s no way you could escape and leg it since he had a car. And whether or not she’s still gonna bully Sara or maybe she leaves her alone. It’s difficult :/ and you all have to think about yourself first and ur safety
@brittroobies2744 жыл бұрын
Everyone who says they'll help are either liars or have no sense of self preservation. There is a man who is at least twice your size and clearly doesn't care of he kills someone. You want to risk your own life for people who didn't give a piss about you before they were in trouble? Go ahead, you'll just be added to the body count. The only "help" you can do in this situation is find the cops and hope the killer doesn't come for you next since they know what you look like (and had your personal items for a bit). And for those that say, oh I'll just fight him. You better be willing to fight to the death cause as I said, he's clearly a murderer. Now, my response is if I were in her place, I'd wait until those girl's folks were looking for them and tell them the less gore version of what happened. But only if they come to me. Otherwise, survival of the fittest.
