I just realized that this makes use of some very interesting framing - at 0:50 for example you see a behind shot from right behind the husband - and what looks like the _real_ situation - whereas when the imaginary husband is in frame you only see the face and nothing else, which is more lit in that frame than the behind shot and the view of the "real" husband as well. That, and that very close-up shot of Mercy's face right before we get to realize what tf actually is happening. It's all so very well-done; thank you so much for making this!!

Alternative interpretation: He was never abusive and she didn't kill him. His sudden death was so traumatic that she keeps up her daily routines, including the small favours she did to her husband such as making sandwiches in an attempt to "earn" him back. But after days, weeks, or months, the mental strain of denying reality pushes her to work harder and harder towards her impossible goal, and in her exhausted state begins comes to resent her own obsessive delusion.

Here's my interpretation: Marcy is living with her abusive husband. Everyday he orders her around and forces her to make him sandwiches. One day, she snaps and decides to poison him. It works, but after the deed is done, her mind convinces her he is still alive. She hallucinates him demanding her to make more sandwiches all the while she tries to figure out how to kill him. That's why he doesn't react to the glass and stuff.

What I think happened was, he was being abusive in this way, and she was sick of it so she could’ve put poison or something else in his sandwich. Nifty detail: in each of the shots where she's bringing him out his sandwich, he's already dead. You can tell based on how the hair sits on his head and the fact that there is ZERO movement from him during her walk up. Like a classic horror movie, there are hints to what is truly going on if you're eagle eyed and attentive enough to notice them on the first go around.
