The parasite warlock is easily the most disturbing and dark subclass i’ve ever seen. So so cool. Going to play this class one day for sure.

I don't recommend it. RAW its pretty garbage.

I really loved the haunted sorcerer. The powergamer in me made a Haunted Sorcerer / Vengeance Paladin multiclass that is haunted by the ghost of their loved one while they search together to enact vengeance on who kill them, the multiclass practically writes itself!

I love Vampire Warlock combined with the Vampire Vile-transformation. I'd love to run it like a player survived a vampire attack, became afflicted with the curse, but learned a magic ritual to use their connection to their sire to create the pact. Maybe the Keeper of the Ravencourt Sanctuary took pity on you and taught you this ritual, or perhaps he saw a useful tool to turn the Vampire's own mistake into a weapon to destroy them. An unwilling Warlock whose managed to either steal power from a sloppy Patron-like entity is such an under-utilized content and I'd love it if someone actually played a character like that.

That's the one that could stand in against that fighter class with regeneration powers.

The wretched bloodline surprised me, and I think one can be taken to any number of directions. And the haunted one gave me an idea becouse I saw a video talking about corpse candless a lil' back. And for some bloody reason, my gf likes the bloody parasite. Made character for it and everything. God d@mn.

The parasite warlock plays nicely with some of the themes of my current campaign, where a race of deep ocean horrors are using bio-engineered creatures to wage a quiet war against the humans of the surface world, including symbiotic worms that empower warlocks. I just wish I had the Grim Hollow Campaign Guide when the player who joined those warlocks made his pact! Next thing on the purchase list! I'm interested to see how Ben is going to thematically tie together Wizards and Druids, two classes who always seem very different in theming.

Still dreaming of transformation tables for lamia and arachne. Or scorpion people. I'm not picky. That aside. Great episode.

The Haunted One Sorcerer sounds like it would have been a good candidate to be reflavored for the Sorcerer I played in Curse of Strahd, whose whole gimmick was that all of his "spells" were just one "spell": Reach into the Other Side and Yank a Miserable Misshapen Creature from There Into Our World So They Can Create One Spell Effect And Then Return To Their Plane. Having an actual summon from the get-go would have helped sell that flavor (though, I did homebrew a conjuration cantrip that made gross little monsters that could do Prestidigitation/Druidcraft level mischief, which was fun). The creatures wound up being a bit more opaque and tangible in my illustrations, but the original idea was for them to be nasty little guys that would be at home in the "everything goes wrong" montages that begin the third act of each of the original Ghostbusters movies. And the Parasite Warlock is *exactly* what I was going for when Strahd executed that Sorcerer and he returned as a Dhampir who needed to feed cerebral-spinal fluid to the bulging, tentacled parasite spilling out of his broken ribcage after it replaced all his ruined internal organs and granted him undeath. So, what I'm saying is, Grimhollow apparently has all the proper ingredients to play the man who ate Strahd and became the new Darklord of Barovia, an event which has been subtly canon in all of my table's campaigns ever since.

Needing a subclass for dark, horrifying or broken PC wandering the domains of dread? Look no further! 😁

Parasite warlock seems like it would be absolutely wild to play. Most of the time you play as an otherworldly parasite, switching bodies when convenient, but sometimes the host breaks through and pleads with the party members to kill them. The roleplaying potential is unmatched.

The parasite warlock might be the most unique subclass ive seen in a while. Warlocks and arguably sorcerers are very Dark Fantasy by nature anyways, so ramping them up makes them even more spooky, perhaps even more morally ambiguous is really cool. I could see the Haunted one Sorcerer as a cool multicalss option for a warlock, letting the spirit and the patron be the same entity

I'd love it if you could do the wizards. I'm going to do a campaign where my group are all spellcasters of some sort. And something happens that puts them in the middle of a manhunt from the inquisition

I would love to play a Haunted One Sorcerer. The role playing potential for having a Spectre as your source of power and constant companion are practically endless. The most horrifying of the subclasses is, hands down, the Parasite Warlock. Of course, the Star Trek nerd in me immediately thought about the Trill Species and could see having a character like that with the parasite carrying the memories of all its previous hosts and how potentially schizophrenic it would feel never knowing if a memory is yours or someone else's.

Does the specter start with the spectre hp average 22, or the standard familiar hp 1-2 Hp?

How about a wechselkind sorcerer, haunted by the ghost of the child he replaced, forced to find the faerie creature that created him to either turn him into a real boy or at least avenge the death of his "brother"- (seriously, you should change the name, wechselkind is kinda hard to remember)

My Haunted Sorcerers Specter was his wife, whom he k*lled when he was cursed with Lycanthropy. I loved playing him in that game. and things got very dark as "she" watched me do what I had to to live.

Watching this with its endless parade of rules adjustments, tweaks, options and bonuses reminds of Sir Laurence Olivier advising Dustin Hoffman (who was complaining about how tiring & complicated method acting was) - "My dear boy, you should try ACTING". So, my dear 5e'ers - you should try ROLEPLAYING
@ZsDante Жыл бұрын
Rules, adjustments and tweaks makes this a game instead of an acting exercise or a "sitting around a campfire" collaborative storytelling session. Imo roleplaying is just as important to D&D as having rules and mechanics to frame a session.

That larval regeneration is NOT an ability. It's a required challenge in which your greatly diminished and have only 24 hours to find a host or die. Plus you get no benefit other then continuing to live. Why would anyone want this risk with no new ability to be gained? Dumb
