This is terrific. Herb West is the story that fared the worst from serialization, so not having to wade through the countless recaps at the beginning of each chapter help preserve the atmosphere and suspension of disbelief all the better. Y'all're great.

This is a dramatic adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft's "Herbert West-Reanimator". "HorrorBabble's REANIMATOR" will transport you to a claustrophobic train car in Central Europe, where you'll be forced to listen to the desperate tale of a fugitive from justice. As his shocking account of body snatching and defilement unfolds, you'll slowly come to understand the terrible nature of his crimes, and the crimes of his eccentric friend and former colleague, Herbert West. I enjoyed the twist at the end, although I'm annoyed by the question of "when did West do it?"This is a great reading, especially when you consider that the original prose story is considered one of the worst things Lovecraft ever wrote.
@cha54 жыл бұрын
@@jamesadamsfl Nah, I've always thought his letter on the various flavors of ice-cream was one of the worst things Lovecraft ever wrote. Herbert West: Reanimator of one of Lovecraft's best "balls to the walls" stories IMHO even if it's not as nuanced as The Colour out of Space or The Whisperer in the Darkness.

Here's to you old-timer! Im in my 40s now. We carry on, but the past seems to become brighter to me with time. The 80s with its hope and rapid technological acceleration, brands of entertainment and toy lines. I had just missed the 70s with its music but it was still on. There was a revival of that music in the 90s I enjoyed. Anything after 2000 was downhill. And I think it became especially visible post 2012. The shine was gone. And everything became worse and worse. Now the authors or the early 20th century are seeing a resurgence. Shows you that people are looking to the past.

The combination of Lovecraft’s powerful use of deeply detailed imagery and descriptions of even the smallest pieces combined with your fantastic touches of sound effects, you always manage to bring Lovecraft’s stories to life like no other! I always really enjoy your dramatic adaptations, they’re just so perfect for boosting my imagination while listening ❤

Absolutely phenomenal! Thank you and your entire team. I like the "twists and turns" and how Sir Major Clappam-Lee seems to have gotten to West's friend as well!! I love the train scenes, and how the "scent" hinted to earlier was told, at the end, to be the slight scent of death. Excellent foreshadowing, Ian! I am both Amazed and Disappointed ! Amazed because of the sheer quality and epicness. Disappointed because you took some liberty with the telling, but left the annoying part in: The Story was first published on a weekly (?) basis, hence the recaps at the start of each part. Would have loved to hear you changing that ^^ That said, thank you for this amazing Dramatic Reading !

Thanks H K! Let me assure you, the recaps were considered (and amended in several places), but in the end I was satisfied with the flow of the story, and wanted to remain as faithful as possible to the original text. Our next adaptation will be much more transformative, believe me! ;) Ian

You’re voice quality is great in every video Would you ever be interested in showing us a little behind the scenes at how you make these? Do you give several takes for each reading? Or do you simply continue reading in between water breaks or the such, then edit it all together after recording? What kinda tool did you use to make that beautiful music for the “Memory” flash fiction video?
