😢 Thinking about it now, I'm wondering why she didn't try going to the church, or maybe back to the person who gave her the matches to sell. It's such a quietly brutal little story.

I know it's two years old but wonderful reading. I've been wanting to hear a good copy of The Family of The Vourdalak since I saw the 1972 film Night of Devil's earlier this year. For those reading it is a film adaptation of the story.

The Little Match Girl left me wanting to believe in ghosts, spirits and a good afterlife. HCA himself probably walked past kids like this every day back in the mid 1800's, knowing he couldn't help them all or make their world any safer...it makes the story that much more bitter tasting/soul destroying.

This is quickly becoming my favorite Channel. I've got lots of catching up to do on all this stuff you've put out there and I want to keep up on the new stuff as it comes out. I listened to the first story here on my way home from work. I got home and parked the car but the story wasn't anywhere near over yet. I just sat in the car and couldn't stop listening till I found out how it all ended. It was great and I don't know how I never encountered that story before. Thanks so much.

Fantastic selection! The Tolstoy story is one of 3 stories included in one of my all-time favorite movies..."Black Sabbath", Boris Karloff's performance as the grandfather is beyond brilliant and the script stayed true to the story, sans child flinging 😗 Thx so much for these treasures!

I think the best stories are written by the best writers and whilst Dracula came first and l love it , l don’t think many would rate Bram Stoker a better Writer than Tolstoy. Hence, this has become by far my favourite vampire story.

Dear Mr Tolstoy, How did the grandpa manage to return from the grave if they'd done the old stake routine? How did the girl have time to rebraid her hair before leaping on to the back of a flying horse? Dear Horror Babble, Thanks for another great narration. They should have taken notice of the poor dog...... And the horse. 🤷🏼‍♂️😹

The story about a Yuki in Japan the snow Maiden, is a copy or the same as a story from France, about gargoyle the gargoyle was killing someone and a man saw it, the gargoyle approached him and said you must tell no one what you have seen tonight for if you do I shall kill you. The man kept his secret and became very famous after he met a beautiful woman they had fallen in love has two children boy and a girl they shared everything and is deep love. One night he told his wife on their anniversary after the dinner it's been 10 years of pure happiness and I've been sharing everything with you but there's one thing I've kept secret from you my wife and now I wish to tell you, so he showed her a drawing of the gargoyle and told the story to her, his wife started shrieking and she said oh, I told you never to tell a soul you have destroyed everything I love you I cared for you I gave you children you have destroyed us now I will take your life, he begged her but I love you please don't don't you see I love you yes I know you do and I you but you know A promise is a promise you have broken it and she began to change and painfully change to a gargoyle and the children woke crying changing as well to gargoyles she killed him as he said no no no no looking at his children change and she took her children and flew off into the night👌👍❗🖤🕷

I would be interested in constuction of a modern yet classic version of a vampire dispatch kit😄holy water and oil, garlic and such are easily aquired, but the proper woods for the stakes, a handy amount of silver, and a few UV LIGHT grenades sans explosive compounds...aka BLADE STYLE...might be desired😄
