i always say horror is fantasy. "Bad Adventures" happen too, and not every "Hero" "survives" to live a long and prosper life. :)

This is one of the best stories I ever read and heard, who says it is impossible to dream a lucid dream like this? Marvelous Tale, something to read to your children when they are old enough.... I read it for the first time decades ago, and your reading made me realize again what an amazing good story it is. Thanks Ian. ⚔️🗡️

The howling chainsaw drowned out Warren’s curses as he struggled to push it through the mighty oak. He _knew_ he should’ve sharpened the chain yesterday. He’d do it tonight after his shift. But first the shift had to end and he just needed to cut this one tree trunk and - Warren’s musing was cut short as the chainsaw slipped off the trunk and swung for his thigh. With a yell he danced back and heaved it around him wildly to avoid a mortal wound. As the chainsaw whipped behind him he felt it strike something before he released it. His heart still hammering in his chest, he turned to see a black robed figure slumped over behind him, an ebon scythe beside it. Bending over, he turned off the still revving saw to see a skull laying upside down next to it, jawbone open as if surprised. With a yell that sent Warren jumping backwards in terror the skull yelled, *“You FOOL! You’re supposed to be DEAD!”*

Neither Howard, even in a story, could question the might of Rome, so it is victory in a skirmish. It was a very nice story. A mixture of history and fantasy.
