This is brilliant. I always appreciated the weird tales on HorrorBabble that weren't quite horror. Can we expect more Robert E Howard stories to follow? What about Philip K Dick and Asimov?

So a couple days ago I randomly stumbled over your Lovecraft stories and your channel due to youtube autoplay. I was so impressed with how you made the story come alive with your reading. I am going to go through all of your Lovecraft readings. Tonight I was just thinking how awesome it would have been if you did Conan. Despite not seeing it before, I find that you just uploaded your first Conan story a day ago. I am quite excited for more of this.

You mispronounced a word in the first few sentences. It should read “…the rise of the sons of ARYAS” not the sons of eyes or whatever. If I didn’t know better I would think this was some kind of woke politically correct interference in the great author’s work 😮
@FantasyBabble10 күн бұрын
I don't know what your pronunciation of the word would be, but I'm definitely saying 'ARYAS' here. And let's leave the politics out of it, by Crom!
@curtistic572410 күн бұрын
I, also hear Ayas, no r sound.
@FantasyBabble10 күн бұрын
I'd say 'army' or 'harlequin' the same way -- it's the British accent that softens the 'r' to an 'ah'. In an American accent, I'd be accentuating the 'r' sound. Simple as that, folks!
@Precambrian-Rabbit10 күн бұрын
I like it. Close enough to the to make it clear that the author was drawing inspiration from real-world historical cultures for his fantasy world, different enough to make it clear that they're not expected to correspond 1:1 to the real-world cultures whose names they share (many of which were separated by literally thousands of years from each other). It helps that REH was very explicitly NOT A FAN of the Ahnenerbe and their nonsense.
