Your videos never seem too long to me, Steve. I'm always so locked in to watch and learn, that time just stands still until it's finished. I can never applaud you enough for the way you kindly handle the owners. So often you have been a bit of a therapist as well as a trainer and I appreciate you even more because of this. I also love to see how you wind up a packed and productive day with the discovery of a new place to enjoy a good meal. Hard work deserves a lovely reward. Love to you both! 💜

@Steve Young I would encourage the horse owners to heed your instruction more than they talk. They will quickly achieve success if they first quiet their mind and listen to your instruction, instead of trying to convince you they are already doing something right. You're there to help them because their current method is not working. Thank you for both your horse and people skills. I've learned a lot from you just watching how you handle the people you are trying to help.

I don't own a horse. But I have learned pressure and release so well from you. And how to not force but let the horse think it's a great idea in his own head to do the easy right way instead of the hard wrong way. I've applied this to my Texas Heeler cattle dog. He's still a puppy at 11 months and super strong. Been training since the age of 5. German shepherds with my parents for showing. I'm 60 now. Never had a dog that would run right through me like he's a horse. So I bought a flag 😂. Use pressure and release with the flag. Works great! Such a difference. Learning so much from you. I'm now applying it to my pushy cat. Blocking techniques are perfect for him. He's also learned to give space when I ask. Thank you again. You are a super teacher. Looking forward to trying other techniques learn from you on all my animals. Simply amazed it works on more than horses. Bless you.

I'm so glad I found your videos. I've adored horses and ponies since I could crawl. Unfortunately, I did not have the means to own, lease or take lessons in my youth. But, in my 40's I was able to work off my lessons in a English riding school. I was in heaven, until I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. I wasn't able to take care of my daughter, my physically demanding job, and barn work. Now that I'm retired, I'm disabled, unable to walk or ride. Watching your videos makes me wish I could ride again all the more with the knowledge you've given. I learn more with each video and hope the best possible outcome for each horse and owner. Thank you for making these videos. Hope and knowledge if I have a next life. ⚘️

Great video! My layperson comment is that I could almost see the owner making to-do lists in her head rather than being present in the moment with that horse. I think her biggest challenge will be to be relaxed and present whenever she touches that horse. Good lesson for all of us to learn!

Fantastic fantastic!!! I don’t have a horse hard to catch. Regardless, I learned a great deal! In the past I boarded my horses with a well known trainer for American quarter horse congress. I boarded there for over 10 years. In all those years he never taught such skills of gifts. In one hour of watching Steve in this video I have learned more skill gifts, then in 10 years. Each skill Steve teaches is a gift for the human to have learnt and a gift to communicate to the horse, making their life better. Basically, Steve trains people, and works with horses..lol! I'm a couple of weeks and 20 videos into Doc's work. It goes like this everytime: 1 - Trust, gain their trust by gentle front feet control. 2 - Make every great idea their's. They like to do their idea! 3 - Tools, as in everything worth doing its doing the job right the first time that's key. The right tool for each job is mandatory like the bridal fitting Doc did. Know your tools. I have two similar tools but one works better for this application and the other works better for another but they are the "same" tool. 4 - Consistentcy, always be reliable to remain the same. Same demeanor as the situation changes. 5 - Patience, especially when training is progressing slower than you want. That's the time where consistency will pay off. She's a very smart horse and is really seeking a trustworthy leader. That will be the one that gives her the attention she deserves bot what she demands. Demanding gets her no reaction except a brief ignoring to remind her who's alpha.

This was a great video. I love how you teach natural common sense horsemanship in a practical manner. You don't make it complicated or mysterious. You just do it, and you keep talking throughout the process so that your clients don't miss the release. Too many clinicians go on and on about this history and theory and lose people's attention. Those things are great for students of the method, but when a horse and owner are in crisis, they need to see results right away to become believers. Great job. I love how your whole family is involved as well. It is so great to see families enjoy time together while working in so many settings where there is no guarantee of how long a session may take. My husband is disabled now, but we used to do it all together from foaling, breeding, photo shoots, shows, etc. He had a separate line of work away from the ranch as well.

Hi Boo Boo, back, waaay back when I was young, there weren't any remote controls. You had to get up walk across the room to the set and turn it up or down. The commercials always blasted you out of your seat. If you were lucky, you had your own "remote control". My little brother would lounge on a pillow on the floor by the TV set and would make the volume adjustments as needed. He was pretty fair as a channel changer too, although there were only 2-3 channels available!! Anybody else remember those days???? 🙄🤔😮 Gosh I'm old!!! 😁

Steve, a thought , to show your clients on their own arm, the degree of pinch, poke and touch to apply on their horse? Also to remind us how acute the range of horse's vision is? They see about everything. Their attention is on us, on our eyes. On them. They know where we are looking, don't underestimate. Appreciate it! Use it as a tool to communicate. When working, don't look into their eyes. Just simply, un threateningly, look on their body part where you want change. Eg.feet, neck. And where you want them to go. Horses can give us so much... Like blessed, though temporary release from our own egos, through reaching out to them. Real thanks Steve, for teaching us how.

WOW! Broke my heart to hear about this horse haven't had back surgery. I've had 4 failed back surgeries that have left me in excruciating pain 24 hours a day for the past 16 yrs. My discs shattered at a young age so rather than fuse my spine they tried a new technique. However, what they didn't expect was that i contract a life threatening staph aureus MRSA infection. To save my live i needed 3 more back surgeries, which has left me without discs, without fusion, without any muscles or ligaments to hold up my spine, I couldn't imagine being a horse and having anybody ride me after back surgery. I pray this horse's back pain gets better. Either way, if you lived thru what i live with, you would understand me in saying, for the love of God, please never rider her again. Of course, I don't know anything about horses, all I do know is how pain can make you unpredictable. The horse may do the same movement 100 times with no pain but it only takes that 1 time, that slight shift, and back pain can be excruciating within a second. I pray every day that no other humain being goes thru what i've gone thru, and that includes horses too.

Lovely mare! I'm so happy that she had successful KS Surgery! Love her owner too bless her heart for all she has gone through. They 🐴will heal each🙎‍♀️ other. I learned so much Steve. In all my years and all the natural Horsemanship trainer's I've had- they ask failed me! You just taught me(now I don't have my mare💔) how to translated the raising of the back on the ground-,*to the saddle!!! Brilliant. Wish I knew that before🤷‍♀️ That Bridle is made to keep free the jaw, and keep leathers off tender bones on side of jaw nose. Quite scientific really. ***Never tight *** Flash! MIKLEM ,I think. I ride mine Bitless. It has extra ring for reins. I get what your sayin' though Steve- people hinder horses with tight gear. Tie downs ,flashes, and very harsh bits.

Respect! Another lovely video. I could watch all day. But please sort out the wind noise. I have hyper hearing but miss a lot, so it must be a nightmare for any with hearing problems. I have watched many other outside videos and never found anyone else with this racket.

I especially enjoyed this video. That is the first time I've heard the term kissing spine. Every time I watch I learn something new. I have never had a horse, but if I were young again I would have loved to have horses. Thank you for these fantastic videos. I watch everyday. I have always loved horses.

love your work, your vids, much. they are important (and i don't even have a horse, doesn't matter) to many. unfortunately, some i miss because of the extremes in audio range -- one min. it's o.k., the next second can't hear a word, then it blows your ears off... painful to get through, sometimes can't do it. what you bring is exceptional, i hope that upfront and post-production audio measures will be implemented in the future to better display that. thanks to you all for bringing this learning.

Totally agree with this. I'm constantly having to turn the volume up and down. Sometimes the audio is really soft and then the wind blows or the person holding the camera speaks and it's deafeningly loud. Absolutely love these videos and will continue to watch but the audience would GREATLY appreciate it if the audio could be improved. Steve wearing a wireless mic with a wind muffler would probably work a treat and our ears would be saved.

As far as the wind, maybe contact Joel Beckman in CA as they are always talking about the Santa Ana winds. He does at least 2 dog training videos a week. He does the proactive stops too. Almost all of his videos are with reactive dogs. Hope that helps.

Absolutely Adore all of your videos. As for wind noise- there is a small attachment they make designed to cancel the wind and still pick up everything else- please look into a furry "microphone deadcat"... It will make a world of difference for you. Thanks. Awesome content!

James is a handsome young man and his wife is so pretty your whole family is so good looking. I feel my heart ache for the horse who cannot be caught. His surgery probably gave him a distrust of people. he needs you . I have heard you say during some videos "I am all you need" and it is so true.

Steve and Tanya you guys are so real and down to earth,I love watching the video I watch at two a day ,I have been encouraging my best friend to watch you she has a three year old filly she bought as a yearling, she is a grand daughter to point given, who was one of the horses that won two legs of the triple crown,he lost the Kentucy derby but one the Preekness and Belmont and said to be one of the top money winners, but they had problems with him rearing up with the Jockey ,she was telling me as she has been working with her and lunging her with the saddle on she would buck and kick out. Then SHE HAD AN EPISODE with her with the saddle on where she reared up and did a somersault went down on her back with the saddle on ,on to her back with leg cought on one of the bars of her corral she has a couple bad spooks where there was a mountain lion with its cub that got close to the corral and went through the bars on the corral, then her last spook was from a rattle snake going through the corral she went through the bars injuring herself ,and had to be tracked for 6mi I will keep encouraging her to follow you on your videos it sounds like she may be a handful to break
