I'm a Montana girl for sure. Lol I saw u struggling with that fallen tree thinking the whole time hook a horse to it. We have tied horses to downed trees to get into hunting camp many times. Then after that still rode in many miles. Horse was just fine not over worked.

Good job gang !!! She's a beautiful horse! I wonder why someone didn't search high and low for her when she came up missing in their field. Using another horse is almost sure fire way to catch another.Being a herd animal they find comfort, safety and companionship in a buddy. We don’t rescue so we can quit jobs. We rescue because we love animals and have a heart for them. And most keep their jobs to help pay for vet bills and other things associated with a rescue. Like feed, hay, farrier, tooth floating etc..... Rescue because it’s what u r called to do, not to quit your job.

The second horse was brought in the trailer to help her load. But she did mention that they were looking for two, I think it was a slip of the lip, the stories were identical.

@@lmp8932 I didn’t take it like that. I understand they had a “bait”horse to lead the captured horse into the trailer. But they had the search on the hunt club’s grounds AND they set up the pen on that one women’s property. That woman made it pretty clear that this horse camped out on her property, drank from her pool, even was fed grain by her family. 3 years in the neighborhood. The other horse had been several months at its forest location. Very confused story. And the HRH president even said that they got one horse but not the other - mirroring the problems that Rescues often encounter

Horses in the wild naturally keep their feet trimmed by being on rough ground. I had a horse we never shod after I quit riding him. He had 10 acres of pasture to run on and his hoofs did fine.

She’s built just like my Morgan mare was!! Same color but my girl had a bigger star in no snip on her nose. I hope she found or finds a great home, I’d love to get another Morgan mare!! Great horses!! We had to but mine down a few years ago due to bad allergies making it hard for her to breath even with medication.

This rescue method is sometimes used with stray dogs and cats. I have used the bait method on starving doogs. it worked! got the dog out of the dumpster and into foster care.

You need tracker help for this! I would suggest survival schools like Tom Brown or Jon Young. They track down a horse in a flash. :D

Maybe if you had put signs in the grass in front of the pen, that person might have left her there knowing that the right people are helping her. Both rescues involved. A sign co. might donate.

Yeah I think someone who meant well thought she shouldn't be in that tiny pen... they should have talked to the police or home owner if they were concerned. It was trespassing and not the way to handle a situation like that.

If you can get a hold of someone with a helicopter you might be able to flush that horse on the 2500 acres out. Or maybe get some sort of drone so you can see more of the forest at one time than you can on foot or horseback. Im super happy the first horse got saved! Shes a cute little girl :)
