Hi friends! 😍 Come with me to my horse riding lesson! Today was SO cold and SOOOOO windy and it made for a very exciting ride as little miss Dora was feeling quite fresh and excited 😂
I hope you enjoy this tack up and ride with me gopro version! It’been so long since I’ve ridden Dora! She is the sweetest little mare but also the laziest, if you know you know 😉
All the action in my horse riding lesson is captured on my trusty GoPro, so you can feel like you're right in the saddle with me. So grab your helmet, saddle up, and let's hit the arena together!

So a small tip for an extended trot (this works for the horses I ride at my barn). So basically when you post you need to extend the time you sit in the saddle, so when you sit you squeeze your leg and hold yourself down a little bit there and when you go up again take your leg of and just repeat ^^. This really work for me so you might find it useful. And I also wanted to say that i really like the advices your instructor gives to you! It's so nice to see a good horse riding instructor!

Thanks so much for the tip!! I’ll definitely try this next time we do extended trot, cuz I definitely have trouble with it 😂 Yes she’s a really great instructor and I’m lucky to have her ☺️

@@RidewithClara no problem! I ride mostly on one of my instructor's horses and he is a veryy lazy pony! He is very smart and because of that he learned he can go slooowww under the kids that ride there. I was training with him for a half a year (we only have the outside arena so not many kids go there at winter time) and I can see such a difference in how he responds. I'm going to my first competition next week (working equitation) and there we will do the extended trot! Anyway (I got a little carried away there) if you need any more tips I'm here ^^

As an instructor and avid equestrian myself, I would like to personally thank you instructor for teaching the next generations to not cluck when asking a horse to backup! It's so annoying that so many people use it for both the walk/trot cue AND the backing cue, especially when even more people ALSO use it for the canter cue...we have other sounds and words, you guys!!
@RidewithClara
@RidewithClara 6 ай бұрын
Yesss you are exactly right!! I’m glad she’s teach us to use sounds properly ☺️

Sorry, I can't agree with you there. In the general scheme of things I mean. All the clicking and smooching is pretty grating to me. It's like having someone cracking gum in your ear all the way through a slow dance. The odd voice cue is ok, but if you have an arena full of people doing that, who's your horse listening to? Try doing that for a while with your hand on your abdomen for a while. Keeps you flexed instead of fluid, so you're not following much less influencing with your seat. Energy is a constant. The only thing that changes is where and how you direct it. Up and out, or back and round. A surfer doesn't just stand on a board till they run out of inertia. Just my opinion.
@redfyresasoiaf
@redfyresasoiaf 4 ай бұрын
@@Almost_Normal I'm sorry but what? I'm not saying a rider should be constantly using any noises repeatedly or constantly to create energy? I hate that too. I'm just saying that we, as human beings, can make more noises that the cluck so why do we have to use it for practically EVERY cue when riding? Back should be 'back,' walk/trot should be a cluck, canter should be a kiss. That way the horse knows which gait you truly mean, especially with beginners who likely aren't super consistent at, well, consistency. If I'm trying to get a student to canter for the first time, I'd much rather they half-ass their transition but get it because the horse heard a strong 'kiss'/canter cue than just chasing them around at a bouncy ridiculous trot because they've been clucking for two minutes straight and unable to build anything past that...
@Almost_Normal
@Almost_Normal 4 ай бұрын
@@redfyresasoiaf I wasn't actively trying to offend. As humans, we talk to each other and f no one else is around, we talk to ourselves. It's habit. But remember the first time you got a nice, smooth transition without thinking about it? Or do you remember the first time the went half way around the arena squealing like a dry bearing? I didn't take teaching, or been an instructor, so dealing with new riders isn't my area. I have explained some stuff though, and my favorite words have always been "prove it". Just seems like an easy-ish shortcut that leaves them vulnerable later on. And it makes my head hurt after a while. If I told you to pick your foot up in spanish, but you didn't speak spanish, it wouldn't matter how many times I said it, yelled it or pointed at your foot. But if I tell you what it means, I could whisper it. Tha mi an dorchas gum i latha math leibh!

If you ever have a hard time learning the extended trot you should try to learn it in a western saddle/the western way, in the western saddle you sit the slow trot post the long trot (extended trot) and you push your hand forward. It help you learn the speed!

Dora reminds me as a horse called Dexter at my yard he was super slow but also used to buck. He passed last year when my yard decided to put him down as he was lame and hurting a lot. I never used to like Dexter but he taught me so much. I sat my first buck on him. I miss him even tho I didn’t like him much. R.I.P Dexter doddles

@@RidewithClara Another horse died… His name was Charles and he died on Saturday 17th from a chronic liver failure. He was a pony I didn’t rude much but when I did I loved it. I rode him in the snow when I was just in the learning to trot group. And I recently rode him in gymkana. I never got to canter him which I was quite sad about. But I will forever miss him. Its so fun when you get on a horse that is normally so slow and they are like fast. Iv been riding a horse named Maree alot lately, shes a chestnut mare, but she acts like a old gelding draft, shes slow and smooth. (Second smoothest horse in the barn 2nd or 3rd slowest) I also ride from 7-8pm so that might be part of it but she has had her chestnut mare vibes lately and its so fun, athough I rode bareback last lesson on her because shes sooo smooth but she was having the chestnut mare attitude and speed and it made her trot bouncy😅 Also her norm is dora shuffle but the last 2 times iv ridden her shes like fast dora and also does dora shuffle when i tried to make her walk... 😭

Oh wow! She sounds like the complete opposite of your typical chestnut mare 😂 it just be the winter that’s giving her some energy! Enjoy it while it lasts cuz soon enough she’ll back to being slow and lazy! Ahah

@@RidewithClara Me and my trainer find it hilarious too! I remember this one girl was riding Zoey bareback and Zoey spooked, the girl fell, and just started laughing. She laid on the ground for a solid 5 minutes just laughing, then when she got up she looked at Zoey, and said this: “What the heck was that for?! I thought we were chill!”
