Watch as The Lone Ranger and Tonto fix a horse with a bad loading problem. The owners had been trying to get this horse loaded for several months. Pay close attention to what The Lone Ranger says and to the horse body language and you will understand why the horse wouldn't load. Hope you all enjoy!! For more info on The Lone Ranger and Tonto please visit www.goodhorsegonebad.com.

Thank you Ed Crothers ! With the way horses heads are pulled from a young age, and ridden by people of different weights and capabilities, it's easy to imagine many issues with neck , muscle and spinal pain for them. Thank you SO much for raising our awareness to always rule out pain if there are behavior issues. I don't have a horse right now, but I love them, always have always will, and I 'll pass along your name and KZbin videos. I love your patience , your eagle eye for diagnosing and way of communicating with horses. They trust you. It's beautiful to see. I hope you're teaching at Vet Colleges . Where did you learn your acupressure/spinal manipulation techniques ? Please, for the horse's sake and people who love them, write a book !

I like the video of finding where she was sore. But trying to pull her into the trailer when she has decided to brace herself against the pressure on her poll is pretty hard. She needs to be trained to walk on command when you point her in the direction you want her to go. That's when they will self load.

From what I've seen of him he has a good understanding of horses. Plus the second time around was a totally different technique.

Im glad your kind to the horses, but thats not the correct way to load a horse in my opinion. A few things i spotted were the fact that when your loading, you were in front of the horse which is blocking the horse. Also never stand behind a horse and push it, that can be dangerous for the horse and you. Another thing was you werent releasing the pressure correctly for pressure and release training. But the fact that your kind is great.

Make the right thing easy and the wrong thing hard. Reward the littlest of tries with immediate relief from pressure. So long as she moves towards the trailer she doesn't get swatted on the rump. Any, attempt to back away from the trailer or to just stand in the door results in annoying swats on the butt. She will soon figure out that relief comes from getting into the trailer. When your idea becomes her idea, she will willingly get into the trailer, calm and relaxed.

I like this guy but he really disappointed me in this video. He knows pressure and release. But hear it was pressure pressure no realise. He used her pain as an excuse for his incorrect way of trying to load her. Soon as he took pressure off by trying to drag her in and allow her to suss it out herself out she worked it out and went in. Trying to pull the horse in was to promote his halter . But the horse showed him up. For a good horseman he did a lot wrong by this horse. She doesn’t want to load with the person in front of her and pulling on her neck

Mandy, I really think you need to watch the video again, when he was "pulling " on her, to teach her, it no longer hurt. He finally took the pressure off, when she could see passed the pain and try to complete his request and make an attempt to load. It takes that pressure, to get her over, the faults memory of pain, he did no wrong by this horse!

Wrong..Wrong Wrong.....loading training does not start at the back of the trailer. It starts in the round pen or paddock with ground training..... getting control of the horse's , feet and mind.....getting respect as the herd leader.....geeez ....She didn't want to go in because she felt more comfortable in the barn. There's a whole in her foundation work. Go back to groundwork training. Meant to say hole...there is a hole in her foundation work.

saying wrong wrong wrong you need to pay attention to what you have written this horse has pain issues as why she didn't load going to the round pen on a horse has been loads of five to six hundred times in her life and hauled all over the United States for showing and writing does not need more training so you need to watch this video so you understand that it hurt to source to get in the trailer and after we adjusted in the pain went away the horse loaded so you need to watch the whole video before you give advice this horse has been loaded for years and this was cause it hurt to get into why she didn't get in there don't need no training round penning so watch it again please wake up people quit trying to fool with horses that are in pain they try to tell you just listen and watch

@@edcrothers2081 This horse did not load because she did not respect the handler....the guy in the red hat. Period. You couldn't get her to load even after you did your "pain remover trick". So, if pain was the issue for not loading, why did you put a pressure point halter on her? Why did you push to horse sideways causing her to lose balance if you felt she had pain issues? Pressure point halters create pain and the horse moves forward to get away from the pain. So, finally after you pulled and pulled on her face ,she did load. Next, you taught her to turn around and exit the trailer. She caught on real fast you were going to let her get back out so she did start cooperating.I am surprised you both were not kicked by this horse because you both did nothing but annoy her. You stated the horse has been loaded 500 to 600 times ...I'm calling bullsh*t on that, too. She may have been loaded that many times by someone else, but I doubt it. I don't know too many 8 year old horses that have been loaded that many times. When a horse refuses to load, don't lead the horse away from the trailer. That is called REWARDING the horse for refusing. What the handler should have done was put the horse to work with some ground work exercises....right there behind the trailer ...moving her hips and moving her feet on a short 6' lead rope. But first, the handler, who I suppose is the owner, needs to put some ground work training on the horse. That needs to be done before ever attempting to load any horse in a trailer. I suggest watching David Lee Archer-True to Your Horse Horsemanship. He has some very good videos on ground work and getting control of the horse's mind by moving the horse's feet. WINNING!
@LightLynne
@LightLynne 5 жыл бұрын
@@baley9774 I agree, again. This video was nonsensical. If the horse had pain issues, she still didn't load after the "treatment." Pulling on her and pushing her around was counter productive and pretty obviously NOT how you get a horse to load. The whole deal about pushing from the back end and almost dumping her on the ground was ridiculous and dangerous for the horse! Nearly messed up her legs against the trailer. Dang! She's not the biggest horse, he wouldn't fair so well with a 1200 lb. horse. Move those feet! Take her to the round pen and get her to respect you. Sweet horse, just needs a little respect.

Ed's right, she didn't need more training.. but Ed needs to explain his whys more clearly. Pulling on a horse invokes resistance.. pressure and release needs to be very subtle.. maybe Ed exaggerated it so newbies could see it clearly.

If you understood horses you would have realized that as soon as you stopped standing in front of her she was willing to go into the trailer. It had nothing to do with anything you talked about. I hate to say this but you need to learn horse psychology. I do hope you go to the channel here on youtube called "THINK LIKE A HORSE." The author of this channel is Rick Gore and he is great at horse psychology. He can teach you why horses do the things they do and why it has nothing to do with what you talked about here in your video. That poor horse did not want to load while you were directly in front of her. As soon as you moved out of her way she had no problem loading. I hope you will review this video so you can see what I say is true. Please start watching Rick Gores videos so you can understand horses better and so you can see why you are so wrong about so much. Are serious... never ever use a halter like that. Never use whips. Never pull a horse forward facing it . This is stupidity. Hitting it will not help either. All you need to do is lead the horse up facing the trailer, next a person behind her with a whip that has a flag on it and flap the flag to make it uncomfortable outside the float, until she walks in and finds comfort insde the float. Pain issus are not the problem, learn natural horsmanship. Pressure points my arse. Youuse a halter on yourselves andsee if you get pain.

I have never once seen you check the spine you just poke and run your pain finder down there throat! You have no finesse with horses they all dance around and pull away from you because your like a predator jumping from place to place grabbing their faces etc... Please stop pulling and pushing on her.This is no way to get a horse to do anything! When you pull on a horse they will always pull back. This is their nature and this is why pulling a horse in an attempt to get them to do anything will never work. Pushing her the way you did just frighten her and a scared horse is a dangerous horse and it too is no way to get a horse to do anything. I was so afraid you were going to cause her to rear up and hit her head on the roof of the trailer. If that would have happened you would never get her in a trailer and she may never be able to trust you as her leader. Before you ever ask your horse to load into a trailer you should have been working with her daily to create a bond of trust and to help her to understand you are her leader. Once a horse has that bond of trust with you and knows you are her leader she will go anywhere you want her to go and she will do anything you want her to do. Trying to pull or push her into that trailer is absolutely the wrong thing to do. That is no way to create a bond of trust with your horse. Try going to a channel called "Think Like a Horse." This guy really knows horse psychology and he will be able to help you learn how to create that bond of trust I speak about. He also has a website and you can find lots of info and videos on how to load a horse and why you first have to have that bond of trust. He has two horses that do absolutely anything and everything this guy asks of them. He even lets his horses lose into his yard while he is doing yard work or any time he has to be outside and they never go out of his yard. He and his horses are truly amazing.Hope you have an open mind and can accept my criticism for I am just trying to help both you and that poor horse. God Bless You!

Once in a while, Rick makes a good point. Personally, I don't think Rick is so good with his own horses. Mr. T is flighty and runs off weirdly even when Rick is on him. Pushy horse. Bucks when he wants. Doesn't stop safely. And T is filthy most times. Too often there are flies bothering them. Mr. T gets hundreds of fly bite bumps all over him. I'm sorry, I think Rick likes his own voice too much and just gets carried away. When he was messing with foals he was absolutely wrong to hit them when their heads were through the fence. They hit their heads on the fence as they shied away from Rick. Really bad form. "Correcting" babies through a fence is dangerous for them. Plus, he had NO business playing through the fence with someone else's foals. Not reporting to the owner that mare who kept falling over was irresponsible. Who wouldn't find someone in charge so the could look after that mare?

I think you're right, and yet … here's something more to learn and definitely to be aware of. Pain in your horse. I'd bet undiagnosed pain , with only symptoms being behavior changes, or even with no behavior changes, is rampant in horses. What isn't obvious we don't see, most of the time. Vets more often use pain meds than physical manipulations, which may miss the root of the problem. I saw in this and other Crother's videos, evidence of pain on palpation. I saw evidence of relief of pain after E.C.'s manipulations. I also saw his keen eye diagnosing areas of pain , apparent successful therapies (for the moment, anyway, I'd like some follow up) his good patience, touch and tone of voice . I saw horses trusting him , which is great, in my book. Always more to learn , right ?

@katherineburton1766
@katherineburton1766 6 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the horse that kicks the wall? If so, how can you make a judgement like that without having seen the horse? Even a vet wouldn't give that answer without a physical. There are many reasons a horse would kick in a confined space, and it not necessarily be an ulcer. The fact that you would give that answer concerns me very much, as there are people that are taking your word as gospel, and will not check with the vet before treating for the ulcer that you said it was. If this answer was not for the above person, HorsenaroundinMaine Maine, and was for a horse that you know for a fact (ie has seen a vet and been diagnosed) please disregard this comment. Or, better yet, respond and tell me I am wrong, and why. Thank you
