Those gypsy vanners and cobs are very wanted in Europe and cost a lot of money. That explanes it all. Once i bought one, a mare. She must have been abused a lot, she was terrified when you tried to touch her legs for instance or moved too fast with your hands. She had pain on her legs and went lame after riding her. She was so sweet. We decided to let her enjoy the rest of her life in the pasture. Sadly it was only a couple of years, her pain increased a lot and at one time we did have to let her go, in love. At least she knew that she was loved a lot and she had been enjoying it. RIP Angel

It looks like a pony hoarder or a pony hoarder’s family told a trader to take the whole lot, just get them out of here. The trader probably opened the gate to their field, ran them all into the trailer, scrounged random papers together or forged them and off they went. And now, no consequences. Absolutely disgusting!

It is so awful what lengths some people go to to make money. Using and abusing animals this way is unacceptable. The disorder of so many areas make everything seem bad at times. The other thing is, they put these horses on the ship knowing the authorities will be looking at them and not the chemicals used to make fentanyl coming off the ships. I'd love to know the name of this ship captain. Thanks for all your hard work caring for the poor horses.

I can't watch this today. But I will say that horses are used and abused in all horse 'sports' and where horses, donkeys, mules, etc. are used to work in fields or as carriage horses. We enslave horses and other animals. They have no say over their lives. They are sentient beings. This means they are thinking, feeling animals, our cousins. The human species is the cruellest.

Unfortunately, in the US they don’t have to smuggle the horses out. Kill buyers and the slaughter pipeline are legal and truckloads are sent to either Canada or Mexico to be killed for meat. The paper work is often mismatched and the conditions are horrendously cruel. The physical conditions of many of the horses are heartbreaking and include underweight, lameness, blindness, broken legs and putrid wounds. Horse Plus Humane Society is a wonderful US group that rescues horses lobbying government for changes in laws and training other groups to expand the rescue efforts. They have very moving video if you found this video interesting. I think the more people who are aware of these problems and the groups working to save these poor animals, the sooner things will change.

A pony not born will suffer no abuse. It seems their usefulness to us has past and so our treatment of them has deteriorated, and that’s not good for them or us. It’s bad for us to abuse and get away with it. There’s no opportunity to grow when we get away with it.
@Gothikah5 ай бұрын
Thats some fancy looking ponies there. I'm sure they'll find a good home eventually! Glad they got rescued! Unfortunatly it's a world wide problem, Horse Plus Humane in America is also trying to intercept truck loads of horses that mostly are sick and definitly unfit for transport. We should all form a network to stop this horrible practice! Is it possible to raise awareness on a local level by signing a petition to pursue justice for these animals? It's just an idea ..
@darlenemckay2655 ай бұрын
Every time I see these ponies they all look so fancy! I wish we had ponies here in the US that look like these. They look like Gypsy cobs. Very expensive in the US but seem so common there. I too am a monthly supporter of Horse Plus. I love the work they do to help horses!
@shadowsoul9975 ай бұрын
@@darlenemckay265they’re not vanners, they’re just your standard cobs, a type not a breed. A very common type here in the uk and Ireland. The Fell pony breed, the black mare they named Fern, is on the rare breed lists and fairly expensive to buy here in the uk despite being a native breed.

We here in the US have the same problem. It might be even worse here actually. The traders just keep going from auction to auction with old, injured, sick, and terrified animals until they give up and sell them to the kill buyers by the pound. Then the kill buyers subject them to more horrific conditions and when they do transport them out to Mexico the transports are not suitable for the number of animals on them, there is little to no water or hay, and many of the sick and old and injured go down and are trampled to death in the trailers. Exporting horses to slaughter is illegal in the US, but the business of it THRIVES and it is sickening that it does. We cannot even keep our border secure these days so I am sure the lawmakers in DC and law enforcement have little time to feel sorry for the horses. I hope those who have to have horsemeat get sick from all the drugs and such that are given to American horses, maybe then they will stop calling for more horsemeat.

Thank you for the unbelievable work you are doing. Here in Ireland its absolutely DISGUSTING what is allowed to go on, there is a demographic of people everyone knows who im talking about, who abuse horses and animals in general in the most cruel way, but nothing is done to stop it as it their "culture" utterly deplorable, they are tied by the neck by rope to railings in the rain with no shelter and in horrendous health. It sickens me beyond words.

We need to convince people to stop consuming horse meat. It's a big problem in Japan where Canada ships live draft horses. And yes people will scream that they are no different than cows but in many ways they are. Most horses were bred to be riding animals or pulling carts. They have carried us into wars + been our transportation for centuries. Don't they deserve some respect??

Its a huge problem in the USA. Many people are in auctions who are called 'kill pen buyers', People who join the auctions in order to buy and sell the unwanted horses for slaughter. These people are somehow protected over rescues and they even kick out or ban rescues in favor of these kill buyers who wanna make a quick buck without caring about the animal. Horses are nothing to them but livestock. The USA is horrible when it comes to actually protecting horses from going over the boarder and do everything to stop people who are against sending any horse for slaughter.

You know that Horse Plus have a very high number of Animals they put down after "Rescue"?
@cherylmillard20675 ай бұрын
@@lianeschwarzwalder7289 Do you know that Horse Plus takes in any animal even those who should have been put down by their owners long ago? Do you watch their videos? They get high numbers of neglected Amish horses in pretty rough shape that were not given vet care or euthanized but sold at slaughter price to squeeze that last dollar out of the animal. During their buy out they do not discriminate, they buy everything off the trucks and trailers in adoptable condition, to rehabilitate or in need of euthanasia, upon intake each animal is triaged, given proper vet care including, microchipped, wormed, vaccinated, teeth floating on really bad cases, onsite bloodwork and radiographs, as well at a later date any necessary surgeries, teeth floats, castrations and farrier care. Critical animals are given priority. Decisions are made on quality of life. Would you rather they were selective and took only the adoptable horses to keep euthanasia numbers down and let the rest ship to slaughter?

How sad, I thought Britain was a country of animal lovers, but I keep being proved wrong. Every time I hear about things like this it breaks my heart, I just wish I had money to help you & other organisations like you who do their best to help abused animals wherever & whenever they are found. What do these poor animals do to deserve such treatment I'll never know or understand, it's like they're being punished for being alive. But I should not be surprised as there are so many children who have to suffer in the same way, always hearing about this as well. 😢 Funny 😢 how punishments differ for each, just because animals can't speak a language we can understand, does not mean they are worth less than people & it's time people with authority had the necessary money to follow up & prosecute all cases no matter how difficult it is. Punishments should also be tougher, made to fit the crime. Instead of the equivalent of a slap on the wrist, which is what seems to happen a lot of times, because that just means these people are free to keep on behaving in the same way,if they feel like it. This they obviously will as they have already done the same thing, as the saying goes a Leopard can't change his spots, in my opinion neither can people who are so cruel.
