We then continue with our Barn Vlog with a look at how to clip a horse by introducing clippers for the first time.

Thank you, another fantastic video. I'm wondering do you have any advice for someone that hasn't hacked for two years, because of "Fear", love the school, hate hacking. Horse isn't naughty, I am. I end up feeling super vigilant and actually relieved when we get back to yard. I'm doing my first hack out soon, just for half hour, so and advice welcome. Thank you.

Hi, thank you again for commenting. I have got more nervous now as I have got older and more responsibilities! It took me two years to take Dante out after backing him so we only started hacking this year. I started by riding in the school for 5 days running and taking him out on day 6 when he was a little more tired. Age and trust has improved him. Both my trust in him and his in me so on that note I am going to start doing a bit of liberty groundwork with him (will post videos of course!) I used to take him out in hand so he knew his environment. Usually going with another "bombproof" horse to follow would help. Surround yourself with other confident people as nervous comments from others sink in and don't help. Do some positive imagery training to re-programme your negative thoughts. Maybe get some NLP help? If your horse is not naughty that's great. Why not start with 10 minutes and build up to an hour? Then do it more regularly, even 5 minutes at the end of a session in the school as a warm down?

EquiEvolve Coaching Thanks very much for the reply, I'm going to do just that, build up my own confidence hacking, and see how I get on, the weather here is horrible at present so we will have to play it by ear. I'll let you know how we get on. I'll look into the NLP and see if can it help. Enjoy your week.

Hi! I was just wondering what kind of turnout boots you use? I am trying to find a pair and haven't found some that stay on very well... Thanks!!

As cheap as possible because he was chewing them off! In this he has Shires ones. The Velcro is very sticky, can be annoying as no tabs to help undo. He has long mud boots from premier equine and they have been good too. Legacy are also ok for field boots. In the hacking he has lemieux but I would not leave those on in the field to get wrecked !!
