Nothing "graceful " about the rider!! Stunning horse

What the H…? She is NOT a quiet rider. She doesn’t post her trot, even though she is doing dressage, she is just bouncing all over his back. She is pretty tight handed on those reins and she is constantly spurring him. This horse is a saint for putting up with an “experienced and knowledgeable” rider like this.

Her seat could be better. Her legs flop around. Not sure how experienced she us. A good horse.

@@equine2020 Agree. Could be causing pain for her horse. She's pretty heavy and is hitting him straight on the most sensitive part of the spine. She should be landing near the butt so she can drive the horse from that position.

@@thetorchyblameseries8100 A rider sits close to the withers, not over the kidneys. She just needs to require a " good seat ". (FYI) I was taught by professionals. Over 45yrs with horses.

So glad he’s finally retired, it’s long overdue, he looks very uncomfortable. He’s gnashing so hard on the bit his teeth are sticking out, his tail is constantly switching, his ears are pinned. Part of his issue is the rider leans, flaps and flops around like a fish in the saddle, it’s all very unseemly.

Switching tail constantly, rider bouncing. Is she owner or just rider?

I’ve never seen a Dressage rider bounce around so much! She does a disservice to her horse as her position is too loose and floppy; by leaning forward, she fails to sit on her seat bones in connection with the horse’s back. At one point, the horse expresses his displeasure by pinning his ears back - not the “acceptance” the horse is supposed to express!

Absolutely agreed..the only positive I see here is a horse being ridden on the vertical instead of behind the bit like so many today, but this horse does a lot of ear pinning and tail swishing clearly showing displeasure on how he's being ridden.

I don´t think this is an Appaloosa! The building more looks baroque so I would say, it´s more like a Knappstrubber! (but I could be wrong!) And at minute 5.50 to 5.55 minute, you can see that something is off with his hind end in trott! As if his hipp is hurting! It is not always but at this minutes, you can see it! But I wish him a nice retirement!!

The stadium is empty!! It ma BB (now don't yell at me because this is not meant as a criticism) but it could be because of he weight. No, I am just now starting to watch her beginning now and she is just not a good dressage rider.. And this horse is amazing!! It is a shame that her doesn't have a more accomplished rider!!🐎🐎🐎🐎

FWIW...horse shows are typically attended by competitors, not a lot of public spectators. A weeklong horse show may have a public Saturday evening event, but during the week, those in attendance are typically the competitors themselves.

Dressage is misery for a horse. Hours, days, weeks, months and years of drilling and training in the hope the rider wins competitions. You just have to look at the learned helplessness in the eyes, the worried ear position and the ridiculous bits and spurs. Held in collection with pressure constantly on the reins never letting up. The arthritis at the end of their careers also. A sad life for a horse. Imagine the same for a human going through the same.

Just wanted to say for the bunch of people commenting now, this horse passed back in 2014. He was an amazing horse, but it makes me a bit sad in a nostalgic sense, seeing people give recommendations for him when it’s far too late. Obviously keep giving those recommendations! It will help future riders and horses, but it’s at least a decade too late to help this specific horse.

What awards.. never herd of the horse.. sorry those movements are not grand prix dressage standards. And the rider omg a sack of potatoes could do better. This is just pure horse abuse. World championships that are held in the USA with only us riders doesn't count. And BTW the 50 people in the audience says it all. We retire a famous dressage horse in Europe the stands are full.. with thousands.

Awesome horse, very beautiful, extremely responsive to cues and great athletic ability …. I don’t know much about some performances, but I remember the Lipizzaners in various events I attended, and the Spanish Riding school in Vienna and their performances…more fluid and connected with the horses they rode in dressage, and slightest cue given, was unnoticeable. One thing I object to is her constant leg movements in cueing her horse, and if I’m not mistaken, it’s supposed to look like your hardly doing this, with the slightest of touch and movement. Another factor, we are not riding the horse, so we don’t really have any idea of what it’s like to sit upon this horse or with difficulty with changing gates and extended movements, that sometimes can mess up a rider’s performance, if this is the case, it could account for her bouncing around in the saddle so much as well. I once sat on a horse which had great training but was ruined by other riders, his trotting used to be more fluid, flowing with ease, but afterwards, his trots were like pistons on an engine that were harsh and uneven, making him harder to relax and ride, or be flexible when either at a collected gallop/lope or at a trot….he had a rocking chair lope that was a joy to ride, but afterwards it ended up being destroyed by so riders who didn’t know what end of the horse was important enough to care about his legs and training. I know about this because I rode this horse many times, more so than any other at a riding club, he taught me how to be a better rider…I still miss him after all these years…he was exceptional and was never loved or appreciated for his abilities, but I alone did so…he responded with the slightest of my touch and I was able to get him back into his rocking chair lope only twice afterwards….we had connected as it should be, I considered him my horse even though he wasn’t, he died one winter in 30 below zero weather, he was very depressed and never went back to the barn with the other horses. He was also abused by all the uncaring riders who thought of him as a machine instead of as living entity. I cried for weeks when I found this out. Later the owner told me he would have sold him to me for $500 … this made me even more sick at heart… his name was Tony, a half Arab/Morgan cross, one of the best horses I ever rode… RIP Tony, may you forever rest in God’s eternal pastures…❤🙏🏼
