Our now defunct avicultural society in Cape Town, South Africa ran an outreach project with the assistance of a Senior Prison's Officer (also a parrot breeder) employing the help of two member volunteers in hand rearing baby lovebird chicks to adulthood. This was to give the prisoners a different skill set upon their release to enable them to esrn a living. A good friend of mine bought several of these hand resred chicks and found the chicks to be very sociable and entertaining as pets. The scheme ran for several years.

The program for the women from jail sounds absolutely amazing! I can only try to imagine what it means for those that are able to get in. I admire how innovative Tawnee is - always thinking about ways to improve, to reach and to help more animals and people. It was an honor to watch all the great work everyone did this year. I am so grateful for all you do - and for the amazing videos! The content really has been through the roof. And I am very much looking forward to next year! Oh I love the sound of Carina's "meow" and how she talks to you. I used to have a Maine Coon Cat that sounded like her. Mine was a male but his non stop conversations and his belief that his 25 pound body was just the right size to drape himself across my shoulders or fit in my pocket and be snuggled all day long. If I was closer I would have to adopt and spoil her all day.

Everyone benefits from being needed, appreciated and valued. Caring for the horses and other animals in need has a difficult side to it, but it also has a therapeutic side for both the animal and people. Sometimes people get stuck seeing only the bad in this world and we need to be reminded that there is far more good. When you can be a part of the good that's helping others it lifts your soul.

The amount of horses they get in with heart problems makes me question how many horses are being ridden with heart problems without people even knowing these problems exists 😶

I'm going 2 tell U a bit off a story. It's because off U guy's I did it. I we😢 went 2 an ocsion & got 3 very sick horses & gave the 2 the people that was there. That r like U, sooo sorry about my spelling, I'm disletsick. I all so give the rest off my money, 2 help with taking care of the poor baby. 😢😢1 was give the last at of kind nice, & was there with him when he past. I balled my eye's out. But I know his running free with no pain. But the last 2 r in great home's. I had won the money, $5000- ozie $. & Was sooo proud i did that. But I wanted 2 thank U all 4 teachings me the way. That was 7 mouth ago. So merry merry Xmas & a brilliant new year. 🎉🎉🎉love 💕💞 always Viv.

I've been a follower of HPHS for years now, and every year, month, day, even minute I see animals that come in so defeated, broken, starved, and some so horribly abused that often I have to take a little break, then go back and watch the rest. I've never seen a rescue work so hard to do what's best for each and every animal ❤. No one likes to hear that an animal needs the last act of kindness, but it's only done after they've exhausted every other option. Love and God Bless you all 💜 ✝️ Jennifer.
