The guy who surrendered the puppy has my respect. He did the responsible thing. He knew it was cute, but be also knew it wouldn't be fair to keep it, because he was not in a situation to care for an animal and he chose a no-kill-rescue. He did all the right things.

Doesn't matter how you end up with an animal. If you know you can't do right by it, the responsible thing to do is ask for help. Get that animal to a rescue. Give them a chance to get a good home. Don't put them in your back yard and just forget about them. Don't keep them and not feed them, train them or get them appropriate vet care. I have more empathy for those who admit they can't cope and reach out for help. If you neglect an animal because you're emotions take over and you don't want to let go, you're responsible for that animals suffering and you are selfish. PUT THE ANIMALS WELFARE FIRST. ALWAYS!!
@atherisGAY2 жыл бұрын
YES. It's not shameful to not be able to care for an animal, it's shameful if you don't admit it and don't rehome it!! If you can't take care of them for whatever reason, take the necessary steps! 💯

I wish Doc a great retirement. The man who surrendered the puppy is a wonderful human being. You could see he wanted to keep her, but knew he couldn't do so responsibly and did the right thing for her. As usual from an auction there were some joyful cases and some sad ones. I hope the one with stringhalt can be helped. He's already beat the odds and healed a leg fracture cleanly.

He’s getting quite a fan club. He’s one of the lucky ones, I fear. These minis were always only ever a novelty breed, and so the market for them is very limited, and they are more likely to live with people who really don’t understand equine health and happy ness. That HPHS takes in so many of these wee rascals is a testament to the commitment of the people within the organization to the cause of horse happiness. Thanks to you all & thank you also to the supporters who donate their time and money to keep it all rolling!!

The mare with the tilted head that you x-rayed the neck of reminds me of one of my Cleveland Bay X Thoroughbred Mares who was sound, but had this head tilt. It didn't seem to affect her, my vets couldn't figure it out either - one was a top TB stud vet in NSW when I got her and lived there, and then my vet here in SA who is awesome, 😎 - to solve it - the owner who got her from the breeder (I got her from someone else) got in touch with me and filled me in ... Ceilidh (kay-lee) had been struck by lightning as a 3 yr old and had to be alternated between being in slings and let relax on deep bedding, She obviously recovered with the help of the previous owner and her father with full time round the clock care. It explained a few things about her too. This beautiful mare went on to win at pretty much everything she was in, overtaking and beating the other mare in front for the breed points in half the season that first season I had her - the other mare was mine too. She had 7 foals for me - all of which were/are wonderful ... Sadly I lost her some years back now due to an infection we couldn't resolve 💔😭 But if I ever see a tilted head I always wonder if perhaps lightning wasn't a factor if no other cause stands out. She also loves the massages she got - the Bowen Therapy, gentle rolling of tennis balls, etc - you could almost see her eyes and while demeanour just taking her to another world. Lol. Congrats on the silver YT plaque!!! Can't wait for the new season, the new vet, etc - you'll benefit Soo much having a full time one there. To ALL the staff and volunteers there - the biggest THANKYOU for all that you do.and WHY you do it. I would LOVE to donate more than just a membership Here and on FB. Sadly a Disability Pension here in Aus does not stretch far enough :(

The way you managed with one was just so hard on all of you at times. Love of the hoof really needs some help with you tube. Video alerts go out for donations and then marked private so you can even view or donate. Allan at 66 managed some concerns with a foal for her. He is a good man. Hope all of fended through the weather and the horses stayed warm. We have another hitting by January 5 or 7 that direction. Gear up and have a safe New Year's.
