@@jackiewilson6249they like to do pop up type shows where only their community knows about them. So they still do it, farriers still get paid off to put the stacks on as do vets to do the inspections. If you make things illegal, theyre just going to do it anyway by going underground. It's gross. I found these two KZbin channels of a Saddlebred/Tennessee Walker community of mostly black men acting like gangsters WAAay too big for their horses who can't ride, some even rode in those "slides" (flip flops without the thing between the toes) and they use the most abusive bits and use the reins to balance so the horses never close their mouths, theyre always wide open, the horses all have their heads way up in the air and their nostrils flaring with the whites of their eyes in full view all the time, terrified and treated so badly. They ride in these backwoods parade type things that are like the gangsters and their souped up cars that they make bounce up and down, only these guys can't afford cars like that so they use horses instead. They smoke weed riding, and drink different types of cheap alcohol. It's gross. I've sent the websites to Raleigh Link several times. I WISH so much she would do a piece on them because I found these channels by watching a Big Lick video. I watched that video because I was checking to see if KZbin allowed them to post and they sure do. They demonetize SO MUCH but allow videos about soring and they get to have full channels about it. I've known about Big Lick for 40 years. My mom took me to a barn for a riding lesson when we first moved back to Colorado from New Hampshire where I learned to ride, I was 8, and it was a Big Lick barn, we had no idea what that was. They had me riding up and down the aisle. They NEVER leave the barn and neither do their horses. When the other teenage girls were messing around, one cracked a lunge whip over the back of the other girl's horse's behind and it spooked my horse and he reared up and flipped over and knocked my mom down. It took many many years of seeing that awful barn on my way to and from school every day, knowing what they do in there before they turned it into a that expensive pottery business just after I graduated and had taken my horse to the national eventing championships when I was in Pony Club with my B rating. Anyway.. sorry for the rant but I will post a link to the channels that I mentioned and maybe you guys can help me get Raleigh Link's attention. It really needs attention from her viewers.

I had a sway back that loved to be ridden, but, we only put light weight people on her, and only rode her in a bare back pad or bareback, and only light riding. ( Our vet cleared us to. She wasent painful.) But if she saw you carrying a saddle , she'd about try to saddle herself..lol if you were swimming in the river, she would siddle up, or go to a standing block, we asked our vet about riding her..he said ok. ( No heavy people, and we COULD use a saddle if we padded her well .( We only rode bareback pad or bareback. We used to to teach people how to tack, clean hooves, groom, and little rides. It all depends on the horse. If a horse had a sore back, I'd never dream of even sitting on it, but, sway back doesn't always mean painful back. No, I'm not an expert.

I almost think pride gets in their way with some people to actually do the right thing and surrender their pets/horses before their health is out of control. The worst thing is to see some horses who can barely walk because their feet go untrimmed. What is it about $130.00 bucks every 6 to 8 weeks if you can't afford that you shouldn't be a horse owner. I follow an equestrian channel, and she recently did a video talking about how people keep horses even if they don't have enough money put aside to pay for the last act of kindness or any kind of vet bills if something should happen, and so just dump their horse at auction. And I have to assume that most of the horses that are rescued that obviously should have already been given the last act already are in this camp. If you don't even have enough money to give your horse the last act of kindness, give it away. Holding onto it isn't an act of love, it is an act of cruelty.
@SaraNightfire1 Жыл бұрын
It's not just horses. Used to work at a vet's office for small animals (ie: dogs and cats mostly, sometimes small rodents, birds, and one owl). The number of people who refused to give their animals the last act of kindness was appalling. One woman had a terrier, cataracts, 19, kidney failure, and was on a lot of medication. The woman kept it alive and the dog in the six months I worked there spent more time in a kennel because she was constantly traveling and just shoved it into a cage with us every time she left. This woman was retired, she was traveling for leisure and doing this to the poor dog. It set my teeth on edge and when I mentioned to the other staff in private how utterly inhumane it was they told me it was good money and her choice. I didn't last long there. I see it over and over again with animals. My aunt's dog was suffering from severe kidney failure crammed in a small cage in the house that barely let out on several medications and she called it her baby she couldn't part with. I was actually relieved when the poor things suffering ended. People need to learn to let go, and not let their emotions (or religion because yes, that's a factor) allow such cruelty.
@DragonFae16 Жыл бұрын
@@SaraNightfire1 That is unbelievable. My mother always taught my siblings and I as children that if one of our pets were in a lot of pain or had an incurable illness that would make them suffer, then we had to love them enough to let them go. Over my life we've had to give the last act of kindness to three dogs and one cat for different health reasons, more than the number of our pets that passed away naturally but we did it because we loved them.
@Terry-lh8cn Жыл бұрын
Giving it away isn't the answer either, unless the new owner will do the right thing. Otherwise nothing changes for the horse but the stress of a move.

It's not always about money. I have a dear friend who has rescued animals her whole life, like I have. She will feed any animal that turns up, and she takes great care of them. Until they need to be put down. She waits too long, I think. She just put a cat down at 3.5 pounds. She's like the people on here who look at a blind 3 legged horse with a deformed spine and think it might get better and complain about the LAOK. She has a heart of gold...she just can't let go.
@SaraNightfire1 Жыл бұрын
@@Terry-lh8cn That should be a hundred percent illegal, that artificial leg program for horses. Horses are not like dogs or cats, they're not made to adjust to three legs. Whether it's the weight or the fact they're prey animals or some other factor they're not able to adjust and all it is is pure torture for the poor horses until they die a slow painful death.

A family out in Arizona have the "Farm On Route 66" channel---and they'll do people the favor of taking in unwanted horses and trying to find them a good home. This last week they took in an old Paint that is supposedly a Tennessee Walker (do those come in Paint?). I watched their video on that horse's movements, and it made me wince. I'm no one qualified to evaluate a horse's health...but after seeing all these intakes for years now with your auction horses, you do learn some of what to recognize as unsoundness. It's so frustrating and heartbreaking. Thank you for continuing your work as best you're able, one horse at a time.

Thank tou gor all you do. Let us hope no long term issues arise that were hidden at intake, apart from the pregnancy, and that you can rehab these animals to be able to be adopted. Great job.

It is awesome that y'all was able to save all of the horses at the auction,even if some of them have to have the Last Act of Kindness. I will never be able to wrap my head around those type of owners who can't seem to take proper care of their animals by doing that themselves cos that is part of their healthcare. They claim they love them but then dump them off and expect another person to do what they should have done .

LG
