I just did this with my brand new horse. I only got her 2 days ago. At first she wouldn't stop with me and just kept going in a circle around me. After a couple of times of making her go around in a tight circle 3 or 4 times, she figured out it was easier to stop. lol I couldn't get her to trot, but after 20 minutes or so she got it! Walking with me and stopping with me and talking a couple steps back. I'm so proud of my sweet Rizzo. Thank you for the incredibly helpful videos!

Rizzo sounds like an amazing horse and you’re already quite the trainer! Already getting her to trot is wonderful progress. We’ll done! So glad the video was helpful! 👏🏼🥳

Good vids man. We recently for a horse that was in 80 ac with other horses and cows and limited human activity. He’s 9 mo now and I now have a halter on him and he’s getting more confident but has a long way to go. Thx man

Great video, really clear 👌 if the horse was trying to get ahead of u when you’re leading, what would be you go to reaction? Back them up, a disengage, cut across them first or wud u do anything else. Great channel..thx
@HorsePerfect Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! That happens all the time! If there just going slightly ahead of you then you can try to stop them and back them up. If they’ve gone past you too much to stop them then it’s totally fine to let them do a circle around you which will bring them right back into position next to you! Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for replying, I see some trainers seeing it as a big deal if the horse passes you, like a lack of respect. I like your take on it, it seems your more just circle them and walk on again, as if no big deal. That sounds great @@HorsePerfect

I bought a cavesson for flat work and lunging. Do you think it's a better tool than an ordinary halter or was it a waste of money? For the first time ever I'm rehabbing a couple of horses and I'm learning so much from you! Thank you for your wonderfully informative videos.! God Bless

Cavessons are nice. I don’t use them but I know trainers that do. I can usually get everything done with a 4 knot halter. So great to hear about your rehab work with those horses! I’m glad that the videos have been helpful 😊

@@HorsePerfect I also have a 4-knot halter, but I didn't think it would be as "kind" as a cavesson on these older, out of shape horses. As I said I'm a neophyte at this, but I'm seeing the improvements and it's incredibly gratifying! Thanks you!

Nice lesson. Would you do this before getting them to lunge? or after?

Thank you! I would say better after but you can also do it before if you want!
