Most Horses Overreact To This! (Desensitizing to Lead Rope)

This is one of the very first things I do with a horse. It's important that horses aren't scared of me or my tools as I work with them. In this video I show you how to desensitize a horse to a lead rope! Horses usually overreact to this way more than you'd expect! Thanks for watching!

Ive tried this and she always ends up getting away from me because shes so scared, i dont know if its me and im doing something wrong

You could start a little slower but if she’s running away from you she needs a few bumps on the lead rope to remind her to stay with you. Don’t let her drag you all over the place! She’s going to try to run away especially if you let her get away with it and train her that that’s the right answer. Try to start slow and bum on the halter if she starts to run away. Keep building on it and you should see progress! 😊

Hi Kevin, this is actually a clients horse in Brazil! At this time I only have one personal horse.
