If I was as good as one of these guys farts, I'd die happy! Seriously, I could practice for three lifetimes and never be as good as one of these guys, cuz I almost have practiced for one. you can't say that only one person is the best bass player. there are many best bass players: Marcus, Stanley, Victor, Flea and many others (just can't list them). and you can't compare them each other (how can I decide who is better: Jaco Pastorius or Larry Graham?), because they doing the bass in different ways and styles (but you can have favourite bass players). From SMV i like Stanley's double bass playing style, Victor's awesome slap style, and Marcus' slap style, and those deep grooves.

Though, "don't be close" etc: in a whole different category of "enormous guttural" bass players, what I would like to hear could be a Tony Levin / Jannick Top / ???? trio - could anyone suggest a third name?
