Ended up pulling the trigger on this beast and put it in a 4x4 tent. Par measurements are nearly identical to whats shown in this, but what i didn't realize is just how much heat this thing puts out when you cram it into a mall tent. Definitely consider a 7ft+ tent, it gives you another foot or so of plant space, and more space to stabilize that heat.

UPDATES: (Aug 2021) The HLG Scorpion Diablo's PPF was increased from 1900 umol/S to 2132 umol/s. The PAR efficacy was bumped up from 2.9 umol/s to 3.2 umol/J. And the price was reduced $100 to $1299.

@@jasonfabish5820 yes, it's an excellent light. It puts out 1920micromoles, at 640 watts, it's very efficient. On a hot summer day at noon the Sun puts out 1500micromoles, so there's a lot you can do with this light. Also, HLG is offering 20% off for 4/20, great purchase!

@@timoo6194 - that’s what I ended up getting. Though I don’t understand how to make it variable speed with the temperature. I just leave it at a certain speed all the time. My 2x4 tent with an HLG 300L blue spec seems to stay steady at around 27.5-28 degrees C so I’m pretty happy with that.

Hows it against the.. Monster Board Pro 7200 Or the.. Optic LED 650s ? Those boards have multiple channels so you can control your spectrum from veg to flower and also has Supplementary UV Lights..

Gavita is the Gucci of lights. You’re paying for a name brand when it doesn’t perform to the standards of others anywhere near that price range. Should’ve bought a growers choice with UV bars, this scorpion, an optic 8+ gen 2 or a scyence raging kush 2.0. You’d have gotten much more for your money. Hell even a medic grow would’ve been better cause it includes UV/IR and spectrum control.

I’m in the same decision as you but a 4x4. People said you can always dim the light and it’s better to have more power then not have enough. So I’m going with the scorpion Diablo :)

No because those diodes will burn out long before the rest of the light. You don't want a main light with UVA and UVB because of that problem. Most people will mess up plants with UVB, it's just a huge headache for someone to put in a light.

The HLG SCORPION DIABLO is the best grow light on the market it has nearly 4000 led diodes what other company does that considering they partner with Samsung and they are guaranteed 301h diodes plus Inventronics driver with a quality dimmer plus the spread design of the board most other led light companies need 800 to a 1000 watts to replicate the ppfd of the HLG SCORPION DIABLO this is science I would spend the extra money on it and in a couple of years the light would pay for itself compared to half or less of a inefficient competitor.
