Richard was great meeting you on Sunday at the Horton Tractor Run … I was humbled by the camaraderie across the farming community especially at the Horton start point … I had some feelings of imposter syndrome but I wasn’t going to let it stop me enjoy the run … it was just brilliant and I’m such a fan of farmers .. of course I also like machinery from the old to the new .. a well organised event and yes was glad I had a cab .. my grateful thanks to you always and will take you up on the new year to “ milk a cow” something tells me that you may know something I don’t :-)

Great to meet you on Sunday Andrew. My only advice to you when you come milking is that if a cow lifts it's tail and coughs at the same time then it's best to take cover. See you in the New Year

Lovely video Richard. Thanks for all your posts throughout 2024 and I look forward to many more in 2025. You've shown the ups and downs in a way many don't. Stay strong on the long road ahead. I'm looking forward to Veronicas' appearance tomorrow. A very Happy Christmas to everyone, except those who voted Labour and allowed a communist government to take over our country. 🇬🇧

Good video Richard. You covered the event very well. How many tractors were taking part in the run? The Massey with the fabric engine covers, I can remember them when they first appeared. Before tractors had cabs and before they had heaters , that was a cheap way of keeping warm. Using the heat from around the engine to transfer it into the cab, or onto the drivers legs. Probably smelled somewhat mind! Drivers today have no idea what we put up with in the 50s and early 60s. The only sprung seat was on the old Standard Fordson and Fordson Major. (I believe the earlier grey Ferguson also had something similar)These consisted of a large leaf spring with a metal seat on the end. When the new Ford Majors appeared, the driver was virtually sitting on the transmission housing. The Power Majors had a foam cushion, but nothing like todays comfort. We won't mention the noise. No wonder I'm now hard of hearing. Cabs actually made the noise worse, as it reflected it back into drivers ears. If it was possible to open or remove the doors, it was so much quieter. Fords would not accept that the source of the noise came from the transmission and the problem was only solved when the cab was raised up and clear of this housing. Sorry to bore you with my memories of days gone by.

Sorry Richard, I cannot agree with your comment which suggests The Labour Party is responsible for all the current woes in the farming community. Whilst I agree Labour might not be always the farmers friend but they are not the enemy either, they have to strike a balance between the consumer and the producers The previous Conservative administration did nothing for farmers and I mean “ real farmers “ not the Johnny come lately type of farmers like Clarkson etc who used their considerable wealth to buy up farmland to avoid paying Tax and for no other reason and in the process pushed the price of farmland up to such an extent that proper farmers weren’t able to purchase it The Conservatives also foisted the Brexit disaster on British farming and that is having a devastating impact on farmers but now the likes of arch Brexiteers like Farage are jumping in on the inheritance tax issue in a shameless bid to win votes for his Reform Party Be careful who are your “ friends “ in the inheritance tax debate, those with most to lose like Clarkson etc are the most vocal whilst in reality if farmers sit down and get proper advice they will find that inheritance tax will not have a major impact on the vast majority of small and medium sized farming businesses which make up the majority of people involved in the industry in Britain
