I really liked ACOTAR when I first read it... and then I read it again and was like, "why did I like this? these characters are... not good. We are told so, so much about them, and shown so little." And ACOSF just enraged me... along with the fans justifying Rhys' incredibly shitty behaviour.
@sciencefantastic Жыл бұрын
I flat out stopped reading ACOSF 3/4 thru. I couldn’t take it anymore, every character is so one-dimensional and awful and Maas’ whole approach to trauma recovery being “exercise and bang ur Pilates instructor and you’ll feel better” is beyond insulting. She’s beyond irresponsible writing stuff this ignorant and incompetent.

(Spoliers!) I was so mad when the reveal that Bryce had found that kid off screen. I read this for a book club and I almost stopped. I will put up with a lot but don't waste my time. We were in Bryces head. She never once got a piece of evidence or thought about what she was doing while we were in there. ALSO any reveals with Danika piss me off. Her having a Mate and keeping it a secret. All Bryce talks about is how close they were. But all Danika seemed to do was lie and SJM is stretching that out because that's what keeps Bryce invested. I do think the Asteri are interesting. Fighting soul eating, over powered Alien guys. That sounds cool but why the Police Procedural especially if they are going to solve that mystery off screen. I hated the end, I like easter eggs but I hate cross overs. This book was probably 400 pages to long.

However, I unfortunately listened to the first one so I didn't expect it to get worse. what the hell was I thinking its SJM) and wanted to end my life by the end of the 28 HOURS. I seriously cried because I was so frustrated. 20 of the 28 hours of listening time could've been absolutely deleted and never existed. I should've taken a shot every time I heard "toes curling", "smelled arousal" etc. It would've made this book maybe 10% more bearable. What I’m confused about is that I could’ve sworn that there was an article or interview out there where SJM states that while all her stories take place in the same megaverse (I believe that’s what she called it), they would never intertwine or overlap. I took that to mean that none of the characters from TOG, ACOTAR, CC would ever formally meet each other or have adventures together. So, I was horribly disappointed to learn that it does happen at the end of this book. I’ve read all of ACOTAR, only two books from TOG, and I refuse to read CC because all the characters just seem copy and paste from series to series-and now copy paste characters will meet each other… the same person existing as two entities at the same time in the same room… yay 😒😂

Why do Bryce n co give a fuck about two random kids?
