@@jaceharrison7936 I noticed it some in other cut scenes, but this sure makes it look like Hosea had the TB also. I will guess that is why he talked to John, about Jack and family, the way he did. He knew that the end was coming close not just for him and Arthur, but for the whole thing they had lived in for so long.

I think they all see he has a chance to REALLY live. Family live. And they all, secretly, want to see something REAL and GOOD happen, just to believe in it. A happy ending. Because in their life it dont always ends like that, and they start feeling it when some "good" people of theirs started dying.

Believe it or not, this game does have contextual reactions. If you mess up or fall off a horse during a ride, the people will comment on it and stop their conversation. For example, during one of the missions, uncle said something about nobody looking under their nose for something. If you crash your horse during this time, he'll say " See! I told you!"

Also damn, even in Horseshoe Overlook when things were pretty good with the gang, Hosea was telling John to take his family and get the hell out while he could. I can see why John didn't listen at first. But that's another reason why I like this game, John really grew into a man by the end. Wisdom at a great cost I think.
@missbelled6700

I think my favorite conversation with Hosea is where there's a few of the gang sitting around the fire and he's talking very somberly and honestly about how his one big regret is not any decision that he made, but instead that it cost so much for his own wisdom, and then he talks about how he wants to do right by himself and others by passing it on without needing the harsh lessons that life gave him. Hosea was the best.

Even before he was killed Hosea was struggling to get through to Dutch. One could argue Dutch had always dismissed him as soon as Micah joined the gang, but definitely by the time of the St. Denis robbery. Not sure if it had ever been confirmed, but a theory was that Dutch suffered a head injury in the trolly crash; after that, he started to become really aggressive and pushing the gang to it's limits physically and "morally." Regardless, Hosea's death was certainly the final nail in the proverbial coffin for the gang. With him gone, the angel whispering in Dutch's ear also died, leaving only the demon in the other.
@tezwoacz
@tezwoacz 3 жыл бұрын
@@robertstaples3256 The way I see it is that Dutch wanted a "romantic" outlaw life, rob rich, give to the poor, and prosper himself, but the more he tries and fails the more desperate he becomes, and in this desperation he pushes the gang to breaking point. The reason Micha is appealing to Dutch is not because he manipulates him somehow, but because Micha is the "ideal" outlaw version in Dutchs vision, high ego, high greed(desire to succeed), eagerness to do whatever it takes to get what he wants, those are the qualities Dutch likes about him, the reason Dutch doesent like Hosea, Arthur and John is because they dont want to be that "ideal" outlaw, Dutch was always the same, its just that harsh times pushed his "real" persona out.

*I would say you should get the hell away from here.* *Is this a place to raise a boy?* *Be a man John. It would suit you* Some people tends to give all credit to Arthur for contributing John's character and arc, of course no disrespect for him but I personally would say that *both* Arthur and Hosea were huge factors for John's transformation to the Legend of the West.

This. And I would say it’s not just those two, either. What’s great is how several characters help him grow. Arthur helps, of course, once he gets over his own issues - but Hosea, Sadie, Charles. Hell, even Uncle despite his lumbago. RDR2 tells a lot of tales but my favorite is Marston’s origin story and how several lift him up.

I’ve gotta say, Hosea is dead accurate about his quote “you’re not as dumb as you act, John Marston” people often see John as dull, but in reality he and Hosea are the first two gang members to notice that Dutch was losing his mind. I don’t think that it would be unrealistic to say that John, Lenny, and Hosea are probably the smartest members of the Van Der Linde gang.

Arthur too, he's actually pretty intelligent. He's just seen as the group's muscle rather than anything else so his intelligence isn't really shown.
@RossG99
@RossG99 Жыл бұрын
John is easily one of the most intelligent in the Vanderline gang. By 1911(rdr1) he is incredibly well spoken and articulate, philosophical even. And yes, as you say, he is one of the first to pick up on Dutch’s descent. There is a reason that in the credits he is called “Dutch’s wayward protege” and everyone calls him golden boy. He would have succeeded Dutch one day if the gang didn’t go to shit.

6:34 they did gave John death by Edgar Ross a different perspective as John and Abigail had a mission in the first game when they talked about things don't get forgiven or forgotten yet Hosea trying to say only those who remember still care so I guess Edgar Ross personally wanted all the members of Dutch gang kill for ether failing to capture them 11 years ago also he partner getting kill by one of the members

@@dolphinerofachero3159 No it’s simply that Ross was selected as the head of the Bureau of Investigation (pre fbi) and Governor Nate Johns who funds the Bureau made a promise to clean up the last of the remaining outlaws and gangs in the region. The reason Bill and Dutch were targeted was because they had their own large gangs and were causing too much chaos

Pretty much. It's one reason why I disagree with the theory that John going after Micah in Mount Hagen doomed him and his family. Edgar Ross would come knocking on that door one time or another. If John didn't go Sadie and Charles would have died in that mountain.

Much like Arthur in the game, I preferred Hosea to Dutch from Day 1. There’s just something about Hosea and his wisdom that’s such a calming presence, especially in the contrast of Dutch’s smug attitude. Hosea doesn’t think himself higher than the rest of the gang and that’s what matters.

Crazy when Hosea mentioned the "old world" and the time flying by them. Jack Marston definitely would see the news of the Titanic sinking, World War 1 and 2, and by the time the atomic bombs dropped, he would only be 50 - all the while his childhood, he was riding around with cowboys and gunslingers.
