The Frey Life just a heads up. It seems as though bees and such like to build nests in bird houses. Have had issues several times with them. Once we know the birds are not utilizing a bird house it gets removed to prevent bees nests.

Hey, no I don't recall hearing that story before, Praise the Lord that you weren't allergic! I can't imagine being stung that many times. I did get stung multiple times on my fingers once when I opened a camper door, about three yellow jackets were under the pull-handle, apparently they can sting more than once.

I had a similar incident with yellow jackets when I was 10 but only got stung once. For some reason they don't scare me so much. But wasps and I are not friends! When I see one of them I leave or should I say run from the area and wait in a safe location for someone to remove the beast.

@The Frey Life is that birdhouse from the State Employees Credit Union? It would be nice if hospitals would play Bingo and other games with patients. When I have be hospitalized for weeks or months at a time it would have been nice to pass the time.

I’d get some spray for that window. Looks like it might be building a nest. We had hornets (thankfully not the new kind) try to build a nest above our front door a couple months ago and oh my, they were HUGE. You definitely don’t want them getting in the house.

I don't know if this will help but bees and wasps are pollinators and help our plants make our food. When I'm at the community garden, there are always several flying around the plants and after awhile I learned that they really don't bother any of us garden workers if we don't bother them. This is what finally got me to be less scared of them. Yellow jackets on the other hand, get bug spray down their holes, lol.

LOL I remember CLEARLY being stung by a wasp when I was 10 or 11 years old. I could tell you where I was going, what street I was walking on, the dress I was wearing, where the wasp stung me, and who my teacher was at the time. I also remember how much it hurt! 😭 I just can’t imagine being stung 46 times.....it must have been terrifying. Fully groomed or not, he is just the sweetest Ollie ever! I love seeing him smile! Prayers for you to feel better, Mary. Hugs and take care! 🤗❤️❤️🙏🏼😘🐕🐱

It's perfectly normal to be afraid of wasps, bees and yellow jackets etc. My Grandfather and my Mom was stung different times. And both ended up in the hospital. They had such a bad reaction from the stings they almost died. I've had a bad sting and had a bad reaction and started benadryl. It's was really scary. So Becareful Mary. 💙

My Daddy grew up in Arkansas on a creek. He was out playing one day sliding down the creek bank like he always had. But that day he slid across a nest of yellow jackets. My aunt said he ran up to the house shooing them away. I don't remember how many stingers he had, but it was a lot. I'm afraid of them too and I've only been stung a few times. But it still hurts.

I just remembered. I for many yrs. In sc had butterfly bushes. Butterflys love them. I had white and purple ones. Plant them in sun. Sitting on the deck watching them is mesimerizing. I bought some at a nursery and some at lowes. I bought from everywhere and the school that had greenhouses.that green thing on the wall by window is a perfect home for massive wasp nest. These are wasp and they wont leave untill you remove anything they can use for nest. How do i know this. At 65 with neurophy cant run. Working in yard getting a chair for neighbor to sit . Huge nest on back of chair leaned on wall at shop. I tried to run they were in my hair, arms in my shirt down my bra. Face. At church next day i looked like i had chicken pox all over. Praise God i wasnt allergic. I moved to Az 2 yrs ago no wasp plenty of scorpions and rattle snakes im now 73 aint taking no chances.

I've been stung a few times (I once stepped on a DEAD one in bare feet and it still stung me, and drove me crazy with itching for a whole week - still trying to figure out what kind it was, because I definitely had an allergic reaction to it, though not a serious one), but although I'm still very wary of them these days, I've always known better than to scream and run away - they are MORE likely to follow you if you make noise and move fast, so although it took time for me to learn to do, you're actually LESS likely to get stung if you stay quiet and move slowly.

Noooo i don’t think your fear is unreasonable 😱 even after all those years! But I understand your reasoning. 😕 to hear you didn’t feel so good today. I also didn’t feel good today and helped washed the windows upstairs (our poodle was already groomed 😉). I couldn’t do downstairs, but I concurred to help upstairs 💪🏻, and doing my part feels very good. I also think i do it because I have controle over it. And sometimes I think I also do it because I am a little angry/frustrated/upset about my health situation, but it’s mostly the controle. And sometimes it gives adrenaline, I think that plays a role to in why I do it. Interesting and confirming too see you do the same sort of thing. ❤️ Ismay

Oh my goodness that bee incident must’ve been so scary!!! I’ve always been terrified of stepping on a ground nest. I’ve never been stung my anything so I have no idea how my body would react. We had a summer when we lived in rural Washington when the yellow jackets were really bad. I crawled into my car from the passenger side because there was a nest in the grass on the other side of my car. I was terrified of being the only one home, being stung, and not being able to get to the emergency room half an hour away if I had a bad reaction. Thankfully nothing happened.

In NC we have in many Counties what is called a "Cooperative Extension Office" and their services are free paid for from your tax dollars. Just look up online NC Cooperative Extension Office Durham NC or NC State Extension Publications and Factsheets. Durham has a wonderful volunteer Master Gardens Program and or Agricultural Agents that can help you with any plant problem you have. Any Plant ie-grass and soil erosion that will happen from lack of grass or plants. Give them a call that is what they are there for and they will be more than happy to help you I can guarantee it. An Agent or Master Gardener may be able to come to the house depending on the risk and the lockdown to help you, again-free. Or just take good pictures and do it via the internet. NC State Extension has a KZbin Channel as well. Happy Planting.

Having the fear isn't unreasonable. Fear is your brain's response to protect you. However, allowing that fear to control your actions to others is rarely beneficial. Your home is cool and safe so its natural that bugs want to be inside. (And considerings walls don't move, the large, dark broom likely was perceived as a predator going in for an attack. Its best just to walk away rather than risk irritating it. The bee has no idea what you're trying to do. You, as the human, have the intelligence to know. Its on you to walk away rather than tell the bug it doesn't belong in its natural environment flying around outdoors.)

Fear of bees based on getting 46 stings is NOT irrational. I have a fear of cactus because I fell into my grandmother's cactus garden as a child. Also a fear of glass windows because when I was four I fell through a glass door and have the scars to prove it. I consider that a fear from an actual experience. Good luck with the wasps trying to set up house keeping inside your siding. :-/

Oliver looks so happy today after grooming. Our hundred pound golden doodle Went to the vets today for shots and tests. My wife decided to have him groomed for the first time. And had to leave Apollo there alone. She just left our house to go pick him up. I am wondering if he will look like Oliver‘s brother. Peter is upsetting me by saying the F word... Fall.

As long as you just sit there and don't move while them stupid bees are flying around you, they won't know you're scared

I lived with bees for about 3 months in my first apartment. It was strange they acted like they were hibernating and even though they moved they just seemed really slow. I would complain to the complex managers that I had bees and they kept saying it could not be that bad. It was so bad I had a bee catcher hanging up in my walk in closet. After 3 months they came and inspected and found a bees nest in my head vent. Thankfully I never got stung. Mary, as for your bee story they would call that PTSD in reference to bees and flying stinging things or whatever might trigger that incident. I know it would be some work but have you considered placing a netting around the deck to keep stinging flying things out a little better. I know that can't be any fun when you've got plans to be out there and a stinging flying thing invades your space, time, and window of energy. Thankfully, this time it went ok with that situation.

@@thefreylife thanks yeah I let them have my bedroom and slept in the living room. It was so strange though for the most part they seemed to be really calm even when I was around them.

What kind of grass are you thinking about. I am right down the road from Durham and fescue doesn’t do well after June and Bermuda is expensive sod. Rye is good cover crop like you are doing. How about take us on your journey with the yard, I could benefit from your ideas! Thanks

I’ve had the same thing happen but with wasps. I think I was 12 or 13 and went to six flags. A lot of the trash cans had wasps in them because if the sweet things in there... and I guess I walked to close past one (and had my jacked around my waist and I guess it waved and made them angry) so I had around 30 wasp stings in my arm. Needless to say that I am now petrified when one comes to close.

The Frey Life it didn’t ‘cure’ me from roller coasters or sixflags (a few year later they changed it to Walibi world), I even worked there for 5 years a few years after this happened 😝 but I did try to stay away from the trash cans after. I worked at a ice cream station (and sometimes. Slush station) and many guests had a good laugh when I did crazy when seeing one 😂

Hope the flying thing went on its way eventually. Great vlog and making us take time to think. It is completely acceptable being aware of bees in the situation (or any animal for anything similar). For me - Mosquitoes love me for some reason. One holiday I remember for the wrong reasons - I was the only person in the family who got bit - in two weeks - 120 bites even with bug repellent on. Yes 120 bites is correct! It was not the best holiday.. Vlog recap 🎥🌄🍛🍗2️⃣🏃‍♂️🏪💦😴👎🐝4️⃣6️⃣🎧🙇‍♀️🕷️☕🏥1️⃣2️⃣📺🏆🌅🌃🐾
