I thought this movie was really scary too. I definitely wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did! I think Night of the Demons had a seance??

Right?! They did a hell of a job! I had to keep looking away because it was scaring the bejesus outta me! 😆 Ohhh night of the demons! I didn't think of that! Good one! First one that came to mind because i watched it recently was drag me to hell. That directors cut version was wild!

So from super serious to tons of fun - you're just stellar to watch. And you're right this movie IS fun - and I'm glad I watched it once, but it's a little short on plot - so kind of one and done.

Thanks! I try my best to balance the analysis while keeping it entertaining and just being myself. So, that means a lot! 😊 Definitely short on plot, which, with this particular style of movie, as long as i like the characters and i care about them, i can let it slide. Good short, fun movie with great scares for sure.

When I watched this movie the first time the scene with Caroline’s death was so much more effective for me because I didn’t pick up on her talking about her background. I actually thought that was the real her and was like ok she’s not being killed and then they mention her background which was when I was like uhhh.. then.. where is she? And then she has her head slammed into her camera several times which answered my question and scared the fuck out of me at the same time. Honestly it would have been so cool if they left her background out completely until she left that last time to intentionally make us think that was really her until the real her breaks through it and smashes her head across her camera.

It's clever that if you are not subscribed to Zoom, it allows you to do conference meeting only for an hour! They did it in around 50 min. Brilliant!~

Oh wowww i didn't even think of that! 🤯 mind=blown!

Séance movies... Insidious (and its sequels and prequels, right?), The Awakening (no spoilers 😉), Drag Me to Hell, Ouija: Origin of Evil (can't remember the first Ouija, but probably that one too), The Craft (séance to pagan deity)... I know there are more, but I'm not in front of my movie collection. Are we counting movies in which people use ouija boards to talk to the other side? And what about exorcisms? Are we defining séance as communicating with spirits/demons/other entities in the broad sense or specifically the group act of sitting in a circle, eyes closed, with candles, "light as a feather, stiff as a board," summoning the dead? Haven't seen Host yet, but pretty pumped to watch after watching your review! P.S. Not a movie, but the TV series Supernatural has a couple of séance episodes 😇

What's a horror movie that features a séance in it? And what did you think of Host?

Thanks so much mate :))) So glad you liked the film. There's a real short bts vid of how we did *SPOILERS* the glass smash on my channel! Haha. thanks for spreading the word! Emma x

I didn’t really like this movie but that’s just me 🤷🏻♂️ another great review man
@DifferentTake4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark! All good! To each their own! I hope i least kept you entertained during the review 😆 It doesn't have a real deep plot or any deep themes in it or anything like that, it's just 57 minutes of fun and legit scares. Which, i need every now and then 😆 what didn't you like about it, if you don't mind me asking?

Different Take Very entertaining haha that’s why I watch, even if I disagree. For me this movie didn’t do enough differently from things I’ve seen before to warrant a lot of the high praise I’m seeing. It was entertaining, and I thought the runtime was refreshing, but I think people are rating it higher than they would if it didn’t come out during a pandemic (which obviously isn’t a great argument cause the movie wouldn’t exist without the pandemic). Overall, it felt like Unfriended 3 with a few throwaway mentions of the current climate of today’s landscape.

True and good points. It probably is getting higher than usual praise considering restrictions, but i have to say, i think even before covid i think you could make a movie where friends from college are doing their traditional zoom video chat get together and one person has the idea to do a séance and a few of them talks everyone else into it. It's not entirely impossible to think 🤷♂️ in the end, you're probably right, it probably is a little overhyped. 🤣 I'm glad man. That makes me happy because that's what i try to do. I figure not everyone will agree with opinion, not everyone is going to care about every video, not everyone will care about every topic in every video, but if i try keep it entertaining and just be myself hopefully people will enjoy them and get a kick out of seeing me acting like a jabroni 😆

Different Take Yeah you definitely aren’t wrong about any of that. I love found footage horror, and I love Shudder, so I’m honestly a little bummed I didn’t love it as much as everyone else did. I think it had a lot of potential, I’m looking forward to the directors next film! I think this will certainly get him some more work down the line. And I’m a big fan of the channel so I’m trying to work my way through all your videos that feature movies I’ve seen! Keep up the great work man 🤙🏻

I love found footage horror too! I hope they get to a point where they just shoot the movie pov style that way we don't have to people say, "why are they still holding the camera"🙄 I agree! I think given a little more stuff to work with the director could do something even better. He's got an eye for setting up good scares. Thanks man i really appreciate that! that's really cool to hear so thank you! 🙏
