I kind of like this one better than the first one since it goes further into what kind of person would be a client of Elite Hunting. But it didn't take away from the human trafficking feeling that it had going. For example, one of the rich jerks wanted to be a surgeon, but he couldn't due to a hand condition, so now he buys people to live out his fantasy. That makes sense. It feels realistic, and it shows how these rich people have too much money for their own good. Every single person here feels like an exaggerated fuck that I can't take any of them seriously. For those who are curious to know about “everything else that’s come out about Bijou Philips”, here’s a trigger warning for mentions of r*pe and inc*st. Philips has defended both her father and husband when they faced SA allegations. This is what was stated about how Philips reacted when her half-sister Mackenzie accused their father of r*pe and inc*st: “Of Mackenzie's allegations against their father, Phillips said, "I'm 29 now, I've talked to everyone who was around during that time, I've asked the hard questions. I do not believe my sister. Our father was many things. This is not one of them.” In contrast, Phillips also stated that Mackenzie told her about their incestuous relationship, and that the news was "confusing and scary" and that she was "heartbroken" to think that her family left her alone with her father.” If all of that wasn’t bad enough, Philips was less than sympathetic to one of the victims who was affected by the actions of her husband, Danny Masterson (yep, that one guy from That 70’s Show who wasn’t brought back for That 90’s Show for obvious reasons). She even went on Instagram to mock the victim’s police report. He has since been found guilty of at least two counts of r*pe and faces about 30 years in prison.

Great work, James! I loved how Molly's appearances were used in this kill count. Sadly, Bijou Phillips wasn't acting. According to Heather Matarazzo, the day before filming began, a party was thrown for the cast and crew to get to know each other. At that party, a producer offered everyone pills to deal with jetlag and the time difference. She turned them down because she had been sober for nearly a year. For whatever reason, this set Bijou off. Heather alleges that Bijou threw her up against a wall and choked her for 15-20 seconds and said, “I’m going to make sure that you relapse on this film.” She still hasn't apologized to Heather.

Seeing someone be pressured or bullied into drinking or taking drugs under any circumstance SERIOUSLY pisses me off, especially when the one responsible argues "You made a decision, live with your decision, ain't like I put a gun to your head." Granted, in Training Day, Alonzo literally did put a gun to Jake's head but it's the best comparison I can think of to when people in real life adamantly try to deflect from any accountability like the cowards they are. Not everyone has the willpower to easily resist peer pressure even in adulthood (These characters were barely adults, Lorna was still emotionally more akin to a vulnerable/impressonable teenager in my opinion). It's human nature for most people to want to fit in, to feel like they belong even in genuinely uncomfortable situations. So, when that fear of being singled out and/or shamed gets strong enough, the resulting anxiety can be very persuasive. I will give the benefit of the doubt that some people who insist that their friend "join the fun and loosen up" are coming from a place of good intentions. But that in NO way justifies or excuses disregarding said friend's feelings, let alone trying to gaslight or bully them. If you want to drink, smoke, take pills, etc., I respect your right to make that choice. If you can't respect someone else's right to decline, that's not someone I'd recommend associating with.

The rest of the article is her complaining about not getting those kinds of roles. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I don't think you can get upset at not getting cast as a traditionally attractive person if you aren't traditionally attractive, especially in a line of work where a huge part of casting is the look. It's fun, for me, on the very first level and when looked at purely through a victim vs direct villain lens. Anything deeper makes it much less fun. The men lost because they aren't as evil as some of the people there. The only way the victimized woman was empowered was becoming a part of the system that was used to kill her friends and even then joining them and giving them money. I would say the final revenge kill in this is even worse as well. When the guys killed the plant girls in the first movie it felt cathartic for them to realize that those girls were a part of this disgusting system and deserved no sympathy. Paxton killed the ones who were a part of the system that he could see and get at. Our new main character instead paid the main, true villain who we got introduced to and then killed some very low level girl as if to show that the guy with all the power that is setting all this up is okay to some degree due to his power to the point where it's fine to work with him, but this girl who has a minuscule amount of the power the leader has is our cathartic ending kill? Really doesn't have the vibes I'm looking for.

You know for years I wrote off these movies for being mindless violent crap but seeing all the work and passion and the love that went into it has really opened my eyes. I never knew and I appreciate Hostel so much more after watching these kill counts.

I always love a Molly cameo! Probably wouldn't have been feasible, but how funny would it have been if James said "Sorry Tim" and then it cut to a headless Tim dummy with Lucy eating cat food out of the neck and then James was like "Oh. Never mind... Sorry Tim."

I feel like opening with Paxton being tracked down and killed hurts the rest of the movie. It tells us that nothing the new protagonists do really matters, because even if they get away, they’re still going to be tracked down and killed anyway.
