Interesting Artis, and thank you for sharing. I did watch your Luxor Balloon episode and much enjoined it. Many years ago I learned to fly Hot-Air Balloons and becoming 'becalmed' over a city is one of the most precarious and dangerous situations. Power lines are a major risk as well. Light and variable winds as you had that day create conditions for what you captured. I have sympathy for the pilots, I suspect they had visions of landing through someone's palm prawn, and cardboard roof and into their living room. The as the same thing happened to me once, where I was becalmed for over a city for over an an hour. Police were calling on their loud speakers "Go Away, don't land in the city!" As if I had the ability to command winds to start again. I just managed to put down in a park, and landed in the middle of large and illegal Marijuana grow, and as the police barked: "Do you know what you did?" I said "Yes we landed in the middle of a Marijuana patch". The Police looked around and saw that they were standing in about a hundred Marijuana plants as tall as they were, and as the were preoccupied slashing and ripping up the plants we packed up the balloon and made our escape.
