Yay! another reaction! Here's some notes to answer your questions and clear up some misunderstandings: -So, about lens-making. My mom's a glasses seller so I know how it works XD. Suika's lens is for nearsightedness, so it uses a concave lenses. So what Senkuu did is he makes a thick glass disk first, and then polish the middle section into a concave. Once in a while he tests it with Suika to see if it fits her perscripion yet, since without proper equicpment you can't really tell how much it is in prescription numbers. -Kinro isn't prideful. He isn't aware of what the science team is doing. Unlike Ginro, he's fully focused on training, so he has no idea his condition is actually treatable. If you think your "disease" isn't treatable, whining and making excuses for it really won't help anyone, so he's sucking it up and dealing with it. That's not pride. That's maturity. And with his bad eyesight he won't be able to see that Suika's mask is now different either, so it's not his fault. -The translation omits something in Kohaku's line about offering herself to be Chrome's wife. What she said was, "If it's some consolation, you can take me, *who has a similar face to Ruri* , as your wife." And what Chrome said is "You (two) are nothing alike", indicating that to him, even though Kohaku and Ruri practically has identical faces, they're two completely different persons, and having Kohaku won't be any consolation for him. -Those aren't oxygen tanks. They're gas masks. The tank presumably contains the activated charcoal that would filter the air that enters so it's clear of poisons. You won't "waste oxygen" no matter how long you breathe on it. But, eventually the activated charcoal will run out of capacity to absorb the poison, and that's why Senkuu told Chrome and Ginro to breathe steadily, so the charcoal has time to filter the air.

Clear World was the episode that hit me hardest when I watched this show. It's one of the few points where I actually stopped to cry a bit. I understood how Suika felt way too hard. I grew up in poverty, and never got the needed medical check ups to test for any problems I might have. It wasn't until I was in high school that we finally found out I had a degenerative eye condition that made me mostly blind, and had gone undiagnosed and untreated my whole life up to that point. This episode reminded me what it felt like to get my first pair of glasses as a teenager, and see the real faces of my mom and my friends for the first time in my life. Even now I still tear up at that sunflower scene every time because of the flood of memories it brings me. Clear World is honestly one of my favorite episodes in all of anime. It's so beautiful.

The sulfuric acid reminds me of Yellowstone park. There are several dangerous hot pools and vents, with huge signs, and yet people die every year. You can’t underestimate how dangerous nature is and how quickly things become uncontrollable.

I'm pretty sure the science in this anime is all real. Apart from the size of Tsukasa's body.

the thinks on their backs werent tanks they had a hole at the top and are filled with stuff to filter the air and at the bottom a hose that goes to the gasmask the 2 little things left and right on the gasmask are for breathing out by the way thats also how you filter water in a survival situation take a container fill it with sand charcoal and other stuff and let the water run through it

I watched another show that talked about what Senku said about the pinhole effect. You can actually get pretty close to doing it with your hands too. Make really really small holes with your forefinger and hold them up to your eyes. It takes a little adjusting and it won't be perfect, but then glasses aren't always either xD

ah.. the best waifu - sulfuric acid.. out of all the scientific stuff in this anime I'm still proud of myself for immediately spotting the silver - sulfur connection 😄😄

Watching those two episodes reminded me of "Chi: About the Movement of the Earth". It's a great historical-esqe seinen manga with an adaptation announced. A bit similar to Dr. Stone, with how different people come together to reach one goal. A big difference? You shouldn't get attached to Chi's characters 🙂

16:26 Hydrogen sulfide. In contact with silver it makes silver sulfide which has black colour. 19:00 Interestingly, the order in which they obtained acids in this anime reflects the actual levels of difficulty of obtaining them from nature if you don't have any of them yet ;> The easiest one to get is the nitric acid, because you can even produce it literally from thin air (it consists mostly of nitrogen), provided that you already have electricity (you need to spark it in a closed container for a while until the air inside turns brownish-red, the colour of nitrogen dioxide, then you bubble it through water to make nitric acid), which Senku already does have. And even if he didn't, it could still be obtained from bat guano (like the "reviving water" in that cave). Also, once you have sulfuric acid, you can use it to obtain other acids, like the hydrochloric acid, from just table salt that contains chloride ions. But this is kind of a chicken & egg problem, because in order to make one acid, you need to have another acid already :q So it all boils down (heh) to sulfuric acid, really, because in order to make it, you need a source of sulfate ions, but they're kinda hard to find in nature, and very stable, so it's hard to turn them back into sulfuric acid. So you either have to find a natural pond of sulfuric acid, like our heroes did in episode 12, or invest a whole lot of energy into purifying yellow sulfur, then burning it to make sulfur dioxide, and bubble it through water to make the sulfuric acid. And once you have sulfuric acid, you can use it to make all other acids by mixing it with all sorts of naturally occurring minerals. So yeah, sulfuric acid is a must have in every lab. It's the fuel that drives chemistry.

How about producing nitric acid using titanium? I don't really get the concept from the manga.
@bonbonpony
@bonbonpony 2 жыл бұрын
@@njboncales4459 Not sure what you're talking about. I don't know of any method of producing nitric acid with titanium. Titanium is a metal that is very resistant to acids, so it wouldn't react with acid, let alone to produce it. Unless you meant electrochemistry. But even then, in order to produce nitric acid, you still need a source of nitrate ions, e.g. from saltpeter (potassium nitrate) or some other mineral containing nitrate ions.
