This, was filmed in Wells near where I grew up. People do all sell apples round there, it’s true. 32:50 they had to digitally remove the Cathedral, as a Cathedral makes a settlement a City not a town or village.

Hot Fuzz is deffo my favourite, but I grew up with villages like this, and people like this. (In fact this was filmed a couple miles up the road from me) as did Edgar and Simon, so I feel like I can relate a lot more to the characters, situations and throw-away jokes in this compared to their other films. So I'm never surprised that this isn't many others favourite, but it does make me sad :)

The thing with the church is actual a bit different to how Tim explained. The place it was filmed (Wells) is actually a city and what makes something a city is having a cathedral so that's what they would've had to edit it out.

Bill Bailey plays two different characters in the film. One of the characters reads "Complicity" by Iain Banks, while the other reads two novels by Iain M. Banks. They are in fact all written by the same author; Banks uses the "M" for his science fiction books. (One of the Iain M. Banks books is "The State Of The Art"). This split is clearly supposed to symbolize differences in the two characters' personalities.

A lot of the older villagers are very well-respected British actors not really known for doing this genre, making it even more funny when they go nuts/get murdered. So I think if you’re not a (older) Brit or very familiar with British culture, you might miss a lot of the subtleties.

I'd love to see your take on 'In Bruges,' written and directed by Martin McDonagh - the absolute genius. The film has a darker tone than HF but I'd say it's written just as good, if not better, and Farrell, Fiennes and Gleeson put in ridiculously good performances. I reckon the guy in the bottom right might like it but the rest of you probably won't. But then again I would've said that you'd all dislike HF, so what do I know?!?!

Hot Fuzz is light years beyond Shaun because it has so much detail, and "inside" jokes sprinkled throughout every single scene that you laugh harder on the 4th/5th watch through than you do the 1st because it keeps on giving. Shaun for the most part blows it's load on the 1st watch.
