Had a test drive for Trophy one week ago. It's more a track car rather than daily driver. After 70 km I got a sea sick :D So at least for me - RS 280 is the winner.

What did Honda and Hyundai think about this boring color ? Since both manufacturers should question whether the customer is ready to put cash on the table . Only the Megane pops right in the eye .

Nothing worse than a hot hatch that feels heavy to drive imo... 308 GTi for me. It has the most exhilarating streak out of this bunch!

And the very important aspect of light weight. I mean seriously light compared to every other car in class. A car that looks good without being shouty, drives fast but rides well too, has a very stylish interior with an unique minimalist design and add to that French adjustability and user-friendliness (oh and those two-piece Alcon front brakes), the legendary corrosion resistance of PSA and we have a winner. I'm sure the aftermarket will allow disabling the fake engine sound from the speakers and then the 308 is the perfect GTi.

Good review sir. I live in America. Hyundai I30 not available here yet. The Honda is ugly but it's a great car. I like the theater of the I30. Exhaust noise, engine sound. I need that. One if these will be my next car? Thank you.

Im liking the i30N but for me its not the car I would buy due to where I live in the UK, its wet most of the time and the one thing the i30N seems to lack is wet weather grip (as pointed out by more than 1 reviewer), the axle tramp is also very annoying which other cars dont seem to suffer from (yes you can change the tyres but that does not necessarily mean you will cure the problem). Nice group test and looking forward to seeing what the competition will do to up their game.

I test drove one of these yesterday and it does have a bit of that. I found after about 20 mins i'd figured out and it wasn't an issue. Its a really engaging car and tbh, blew me away, especially when you get out and look at the badge. What a job they've done on that car.

CTR, Meg, 308 each have a dual axis suspension setup, more tyre contact patch on the road more of the time essentially. i30N only has standard macpherson strut, hot hatch done cheap!

I advice you to go read one of the many dozens tests and reviews on the old Megane R.S., you'll find it to be a difficult task to find someone who agrees with you. And if you're only for straight line power I wonder what you do in a video of comparing FWD hot hatches going straight. The old R.S. wasn't the fastest going straight, but it was far from gutless for the power it had.

@FUCK SHIT the megane rs r is not really fair competition. It costs double what the type r does and has everything stripped off, so the type r is definitely faster. The megane looks and sounds better, but in no way is it a better driving machine. I'm gonna buy the facelifted rs, but can still respect the type r for what it is.

Those who are saying the Civic is ugly should first look at the mirror, but seriously I like the design and styling of the Civic the most. If you have diffrent taste thats ok but dont think that others dont because I bet you get a lot more attention with a Civic then any of the other hatches out there. Better performance? They recorded the same quarter mile time. And how do you figure that it's more fun to drive from this review? He said it was "quite forgettable". The i30N is 5 grand less expensive, more practical for everyday use, and comes with a warranty that is far superior to the Peugeot as well. Not to mention the i30N sounds way better. The service and repair costs on the Peugeot would be sky high as well, but if you like the Peugeot, good luck to you 🙂👍

I wouldn't pick any. The Honda is to boy racer looking, the Peugeot and Hyundai looks boring outside. Like the looks of the Renault though. I'd go with a Audi rs3 or even the S3, looks quality and performance.

You need to see them in person. Although I wouldn’t buy the civic. The Peugeot is very understated and that’s nice about it if you want it to be sleeperish. But it’s really nice in person. The hyndai is sleek. I considered all 3 to one but I knew I was going to take the 308 which I do. If the i30n had sunroof options in my country I’d of picked it for sure. They sound beautiful and look the business more so then on video.

I have watched at least 10 different videos about Civivc Type R, they have all said its so much fun to drive it on normal road. Its really engaging car to drive . Now this guy has to say that is boring on the road . Shit review mate

Do you own this car and need to hear every one say it’s the best car? Every one has a driving style preference. It could be boring on the road to drive - normally. I’d never buy the civic. I’d like to drive one. But regardless how well it’s been praised it’s too garish. It’s like the driver is saying “hey look at me with what I’ve just bought?” Which is a wannabe Subaru/Mitsubishi car from the 90s. We’re are past that era. CTR is too capable for Australias heavily regulated / speed limited roads the location of filming and review. FiST or the old Megane 3 RS if you want to be able to FWD pivot at legal speeds in Oz.

I've owned a Megane RS 265 and a Megane r26r , I test drove the new 2018 megane RS + Honda Civic type r last week and oh my word ,The Honda blows everyone of them away ,it's on another level , Hyundai 🤔 exhaust popping is the only thing it has going for it 😁
