Doesn't really seem hard when they aren't being truthful with their power numbers. Used to be that I could get an idea of how fast a car is by its power rating, now I gotta watch reviews since the Germans are competing with each other in rounding power down. This practice creates weird situations like the Golf R being faster than the S3 even though on paper they're almost identical. Someone who isn't an enthusiast will be misled. There should be a standardized way of measuring power, just like there is with fuel consumption.

Why ? There are two possible outcomes. VW delivers more than they promise or the others promise to much. But you would see, it's not the case. There is not much difference in horse power, more how it's delivered and the gear set up.

Drivers' competence played a lot here , so it is Fairer & More Accurate gauge of a Car's Real World Performance would be having a Same Professional Driver test these Different Cars on the Same Track like the Nürburgring Nordschleife & timed them Professionally! You can have a 3l v6, but if you have it with a manual, a 2l 4cyl with a good auto double clutch, the gearbox will help it a lot, so the engine won't matter that much.

Testing track oriented Honda and Renault on a standing quarter mile is useless. In Europe there aren't any drag strips really...Honda is much faster (and more important - fun to drive on the track) amd as we can see in real life overtaking situation it will preform better than the Golf.

Can confirm, the Golf GTI CS is absolutely pushing more power than what VW would lead you to believe specs wise, I have a bunch of people where i work bring these in and they are dynoing closer to anywhere between 309-320BHP and 408-426NM which is absurd, but not uncommon on this platform of golfs!

Yea volkswagon underates factory power. What they really do is tell you the lowest number at the wheels instead of the crank. The clubsport basically makes as much hp and torque as a stage 1 gti but not as much torque as a high torque stage 1 file.
