This fails to remind us that this data tracking is happening for virtually everyone connected to the data network, not just an individual person. Although it's probably possible with the tons of data that is collected and shared about people, data is not gathered by companies and governments specifically to assemble everything about a single particular individual; it occurs for everyone on the Internet and is used more for general purposes on a more general, rather than private, basis. I find this ominous portrayal misleading, at the least in that it only zooms in on this one aspect of data collection while failing to acknowledge the big picture.
