▼ Video Description
-----------------------------------
The Hot Shot Cut is one of my favorite tricks to do with a deck of cards. It can be used as a stand alone card trick, or be mixed into an ace production routine. It is an extremely impressive move that allows you to shoot a card out of the deck and catch it in your opposite hand. This move was popularized by David Blaine is his "Street Magic" special, but is credited to Daryl.

For some of you that are having trouble like i did, it may be due to the fact that you are holding the cards at an angle upwards which makes it a lot harder to flick the card at the end of the trick, i lowered the angle to flat parallel with the ground and it instantly helped :) Hope this helps
@52kards
@52kards 11 жыл бұрын
Try using a lighter touch on the card that you are pivoting out and hopefully that will prevent any other cards from moving. The stiffer the card the easier it will be to build up energy in the card when you flex it and the faster it will spin. However, once you practice this a lot you should be able to do it with any deck.
@52kards
@52kards 11 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will be a bit easier with a new deck because the cards are stiffer; but once you practice it for a while you will know how much pressure you need to use depending on the condition of the cards.

Really thankful for this tutorial! I just spent a night and day practicing on it and already I can do it quite casually and successfully. Although initially it is uncomfortable holding with first and middle finger, the feeling quickly diminishes after a few hours of practice. This is a great trick that does not require years of practice to master. Next, I'm gonna work on speed and accuracy of landing the card where I want. Though I'm having success with this, I have spent hours with the top shot card trick but haven't even had one success... guessing my pinky is too weak~ Sigh~

Also using a bicycle shadow masters deck and I find that this trick works fine if you add some extra momentum. If you have big enough hands you can also snap your middle finger forwards while pulling up to give the card a bit more force. Also try flicking your wrist a bit in the direction you want the card to go

Hey Asad! First I wanna thank u for another terrific tutorial! Actually your channel was the catalyst for my interest in cardistry, when I was just starting out. That being said: I'd really love seeing some performance videos of you....as in performing to spectators or at least to the camera(as if u were in front of a crowd) I find it very hard not only to do the tricks flawlessly but also add some kinda personality to my performance. Thanks again! Nice video btw.

"You really have control over the direction of the shot, and the distance" Well, looking at the fact that you know that its never going to shoot out and its gonna fall out, it really does always go where you expect it to go! I hate it when people don't mention that you need a specific type of cards in order to do it.. I can guarantee you its not gonna work with a normal deck.

In reference to the spin cut shown here. for reference I'm a beginner. during the cut I had trouble with the right pack clearing my index finger. mostly die to cards wedging into the ridges on my skin made by joints. to rectify this, when attempting to pull my index finger under the pack, I also pulled down on the right pack with my middle and ring finger. not only did this help clear the index finger but also gave a little more control to the pack. almost like a reverse classic pass. just my experience.

for people with smaller hands use your ring and pointer, you can also use your middle finger to balace the cards when your are practicing, so pointer on the left of the deck, middle on top and then ring on the right of the deck... this helps with keeping the cards in your hands when doing the shuffle

Hi. It's a cool shot. I am learning it now and it's much fun. The cut and the shot is easy for my. My main problem is getting the card outjogged with the index finger. I don't know why that's so hard. It's not coming out at all or two or three cards at the same time. Needs time I guess. Thank you for showing :)

Been doing this for a couple of days and I'm starting to get the hang of it, just wanted to say that I had a real problem out-jogging the card until I did it with the first knuckle instead of just the finger tip. I have long fingers, so this might help someone else who is having the same problem.
