I did this for 45 years. Yes, there can be sparks. But, once the first hint of penetration happens with the pilot drill bit, the process is stopped and the pressurized contents of the pipeline are used to push out any entrapped air, leaving the entire cutting mechanism fully bathed in pipeline contents with zero air/oxygen. For extremely dangerous pipe contents, the cutting machine and the valve/attachment assembly is flushed with nitrogen until there is no air left in the assembly, before any cutting is started.

Sir, I am from KSA. Is this hop tapping possible for RTR non metallic pipes. And also if there is any procedure to stop the water in the main header by tapping. Here is kSA plant are ready to handsome amount for these as to avoid isolation

Yes, but if it's a heating system it's less of a problem as people are not directly drinking the water

Many demonstrations have shown that almost 100% of the shavings just fall where they're cut and quickly rust themselves into a little pile. For sensitive systems, a strong magnet can be lowered down into the pile to retrieve most of them.

Yes, but the entire internal area of the fitting, valve, and hot tapping machine can be purged with nitrogen or pipeline contents to displace (remove) any oxygen. Thus, no danger.
