The St. Joe and the NF is my all time favorite place to camp and fish. I've fly fished a great deal of it and even on a bad day, I'll have a good day. The chill in the morning air and the smell of damp cedars makes the St. Joe my happy place. I haven't been able to fish it for the last couple of years though, what with the ultra hot temperatures, fire danger, covid precautions and limiting health. I do hope to get up there again soon. It's 110 miles from my driveway to my #1 fishin' hole. Thanks for the video. It gave me some awesome memories.

Often confused for the wooly bear caterpillar, this is the spotted tussock moth caterpillar (lophocampa maculata). While not poisonous, They have barbed setae that can cause local skin irritation, or if allergic can cause anaphylactic shock. I’m glad you aired on the safe side lol.

I love your intros for the past few videos. It's always my favorite part along with the trail cam. 😂 The disappearing act when taking down the tent at the end was cool too. And, the drone shots always give a nice perspective. Your gumbo looks yummy as usual. It's already snowy and below freezing up here in Alaska. We got dumped on this week. As for learning to fly fish, check if any nearby universities in WA or ID have outdoor programs open to the public. I did a two day course with a guide and gear for $70 with UNM when I lived in Albuquerque. It was open to students, staff, and the public. I definitely want a tent stove for winter camping this year. Good idea on the CO2 detector. I enjoy how you show your viewers doing something for the first time, mistakes and all. It's makes it more relatable. Congrats on catching the cutthroat!!! Thanks for blessing us with another great and fun video, laughter and all.

Enjoyed watching the video. Great camera work. If I can offer a suggestion. When fishing on a sunny day, you do not want your shadow to fall in the water as that will bother the fish and often cause them to not feed. Congrats on the catch. That looked like a nice size. We don't have that variety of fish here in Alaska.

Was the chimney pipe too long maybe and the heat wasnt able to escape soon enough, thereby possibly gathering all up at the base like that? I could be wrong, just what my mind came up with.

Fly fishing can take you down one deep rabbit hole. No need to become an absolute pro, but there is so much to it if you want a hobby. Making your own flies is a real adventure in learning and patience, but it gives you something to do all winter while you’re dreaming of those spring fish (and black flies). I’ll have to change my fish song though, cuz mine never works, and yours seems to work right away. 🙂

@@BaumOutdoors Don’t know it you read follow up messages, but I’ve been fishing for about 50 yrs, and I’ll tell you a secret. Just get the basics, and never forget natural bait is almost always the best. Catch a cricket and toss it out on a hook. Worms either with a float and lazy fishing, or with a small gold or silver spinner. Stuff like that beats most other lures, so don’t get too caught up in the whole gear thing. Fly fishing is a little different, in that you can get into the whole thing thing.

Hot tenting is a lot of fun! Definitely get yourself a setup. I have been in temps in the upper 30F but this winter I will be using it in lower temperatures!
