It is the best time of year. We went in a motor home on our honeymoon in the sequoia National park and it snowed heavy. We woke up and were watching the other campers still in their tents and it was cold outside. Then all at once all the campers in the tents jumped out and packed up fast because it was super cold.

I think winter camping could be really neat if it's done the right way. I wouldn't want to live like that unless I had to. A dome shape is a good design, I see there is cords that secure the tent against wind. So quiet and relaxing but be prepared for the task at hand.

I have the Woods Night PMOLY and even with a fire blanket it melted my floor, you might want to use something to prop the stove a little off the floor. I like how his equipment is used and not brand new, and he admits he is not doing much bush craft but highlights the functions of his gear. Keeping it real, like how he is being responsible with a Co detector.

I couldn't agree with you more about the "no bugs, no bears, no people" part about winter in the woods. I live in the lake region of the mountains near the NY/PA border and winter is my *favorite* time of year for hiking. I was out the other day when it was 7 degrees (actual temperature, not wind chill). With the right gear, the right expectations, and the right preparation, cold weather in the woods beats summer anytime.

This has got to be Lake Hemet! I've only been camping 1's in the past 10 years and it was at Lake Hemet and it looked identical! Me and my pops went and it was a time I'll never forget. Instant coffee made from boiled water on a fire while watching the sun come up over the lake as the fog dissipates is really a memory I'll cherish forever.

Dear Kenny, this is first time that I write on your channel. I was following Lost Lakes and some other winter/hot tent camping enthusiast, and little by little you tube offered me you. The thing that moved me most and brought you so close to my heart was when you prayed before meal. It was real prayer, heartfelt, and not just motions. I think that you are only one so far, of all that I watched, who professed faith in Jesus. Thank you for that. And thank you for being such warm, nice, dear person with almost childlike bearing and innocence. So, according to our Lord you are already in the Kingdom. 😊 I was so struck with the your dear younger brother passing. I have no doubt that your faith and love brought him before Lord. But it is hard not to be sad. We have to cry with those who are crying. And because you become like part of my family, like a dear cousin, I share a particle of your sadness. Watching your videos brings me some strange feeling of pace and cosines. I live in Dalmatia, province in Croatia, and because of the Mediterranean climate we hardly see snow once in ten years. So it is really a treat to watch your stories from some distant cold and beautiful land. I really enjoy it so much. And your cooking to. I agree. For people who camp during the summer months you really should try winter camping. My setup is a regular tent with an opening for my wood stove. I have camped out in _40 degree temperatures and never got cold overnight. Nothing like ice fishing during the day and to come in from the cold to a hot meal made on the wood stove.

Hey Kenny! Amen to your Revelation verse! Hope you get to feeling better; take care you don't get worse! Prayers for you and your family! Hope y'all had a good Thanksgiving Day. Today is Saturday after Thanksgiving and it is raining here at home in Arkansas. I loved your tent setup. Husband teasingly said an actual door on a tent isn't allowed, but he liked it just fine and said it was nice! Husband says he likes camping in late fall, just as it's getting cold, but before it really freezes. No bugs and no snakes and just a lot of the wild animals are finding, or have found, winter resting places,so they aren't going to bother you. But best of all, as far as he is concerned, not many people are out that time of year, unless they are hunters - or other campers like you. My husband is not the most sociable person around. And truth to tell, neither am I. I love that place where you were camped. I just love the snow - but I have to admit I love it lots more if I'm inside a nice dry and warm house! My handicap makes it very hard for me to walk on anything the slightest bit wet. A cane doesn't do good on those wet surfaces, it slip!! A walker doesn't do too much better either. But I love watching it snow! And I love watching my pets out in the snow, especially the very first time they see it. They are funnier to watch than a TV show! Some love it, and will play in it; but some hate it and will do their best to get out of it immediately! Your talking snowman and Wiley were so funny I cried, I was laughing so hard! You are a funny man, Kenny. And a good one I believe. Tell the family hello from me. God bless y'all.

Nothing beats a quiet peaceful camp, though I do love the snow and lots of it!! It makes everything so quiet! Our puppy is experiencing his first snow this year and he loves it.
