The thing I like about this video is the sounds of nature and the actual events happening at the time instead of music playing in the background, an orchestra welling up at different times! I think that some people who go out in nature for the first time are surprised that there’s no background music!

There's a certain romance I get from the idea of camping in the wild with a hot stove tent. Right now, I'm living vicariously through these videos. The scene is always beautiful. Not much talking but talking welcome when it is. It looks peaceful. And there is a comfort I get from being prepared when I camp or do anything in life. And part of the appeal of camping for me is that mental game of chess I play against mother nature and me and my tools. There's nothing more rewarding and disappointing than the satisfaction of realising you have the right tool or gadget for the task at hand and disappointing when you realise you forgot a handy tool when out adventuring. Just seeing this man's pouch for his herbs and salts made me smile with that same sense of reward and satisfaction. That would be one thing I would be highly disappointed if I forgot to bring along. So simple, so small, yet it's those little things that make for a truly satisfying camping experience. 🙏

A significant risk is that a spark of fire will appear and the tent will be burned, at 4 o'clock in the night and at -30º C

That is the Pomoly Stovehut 70. I also love the design however early reviews and rain testing of this tent unfortunately showed it had serious leaking issues. So much so that Pomoly took it off the market for a while while they addressed the issues. I'm still waiting for confirmation that the issues have been resolved and then I plan on buying one for myself.

I just love that little stove. I can only imagine the massive amount of heat it throws out. I live alone and am relishing the day when I can go out and camp....to be even more alone :) There is something so fulfilling about camping and being able to provide a comfortable experience with minimal 'modern world' accessories. Of course flint rods and tent stoves make it easier, but you still have to get the firewood for it and maintain said fire. I could easily piss off into some crown land somewhere and live off-grid.....it's actually been a bit of a dream since I was a kid growing up in the wilderness of the northwest coast.

The narrow stove pipe on the small tent stoves suck in extreme conditions when it’s cold and rainy! The gunk builds up overnight from the cold rain and hot smoke and eventually crystallizes, making it impossible for a fire to burn without smoking you out of your tent. I learned the hard way during a week long elk hunt.

Thank you as always, Stovehut 70 with T1 Mini 3 is actually combo I want to go with including the Thermarest Neoair xTherm and some good down sleeping bag. Btw, is that tent Mike has the new unreleased one from Pomoly you said you'll be testing in the future? Also last but not the least, is this new tent hotter or little bit colder with T1 Mini stove in comparison to classic Tipi tents from Pomoly like Hussar Solo? I suppose cone shape distributes heat little bit more evenly right?

Cool tent! I'm new to hot tenting so this maybe a dumb question but how is the heat distro compared to a tipi style where the stove is more centrally located or does it really matter?

It heats differently. Tipi can get way too hot easily and difficult to get away from the heat. This style its easier to mitigate the heat

Great video. I'm beginning to have more in-depth thoughts about getting into hot-tenting, especially with the tent you used in this video. You looked so comfortable in the night scene. I've been doing hammock camping and I'll continue that as well, but I think having the company of a wood stove will be fun. I know it's a good deal of work in the prep, but I'm sure it's worth it. PRO TIP: Right around 7:51 in the video you guys are working real hard to baton some small logs, This is where a thicker blade makes a huge difference. Looks like the blades you're using are either 1/8" think or maybe 3/16", but you would not believe how much better it works with 1/4" thick blade, especially with some sort of saber grind rather than full flat. That extra thickness really help split the wood in a big way.
