Why not to use a tent with a floor and better insulation?

Hi and thank you for reaching out! This tent comes with a full ground sheet but the conditions were not wet enough to require it. If the ground isn’t super muddy, it just adds extra weight. The way the tent is designed is that heat is held around and enveloping the inner tent. We stayed almost too warm for a good portion of the night. Also, heavy insulation tents are extremely heavy. We had hiked back into the woods so the extra weight wasn’t wanted. I always recommend having a good sleep system over relying on the wood stove or outer insulation. The only thing is that the material is super slippery so my sleeping bag does have a tendency to slide some when I roll around but I’m a pretty active sleeper so it’s most likely a me issue more than a product issue lol. Awesome! I was just passing through DL on my way up to deer camp a few weeks back! The stove in this video will last about 3 hours fully damped down. It’s a pretty big tent stove though. Others I’ve owned (from different brands) will last an hour to two hours. The best advice I can give is to use these stoves as a luxury to keep the tent warm while you’re up and about but once you decide to go to sleep, have a good sleep system that will keep you warm after the stove has gone out. I’ve done the whole “set an alarm for every 1.5 hours and re-stock the stove” and it makes for a no fun night. Personally, I like my sleep lol! Thank you so much for watching and reaching out!

Was it too hot in the tent with the wood burner going?

It was definitely toasty for a good portion of the night. There’s a good amount of air between the inner tent and the outer shell that just envelopes the inner tent and keeps it very warm well after the fire has gone down. Even with the stove damped all the way down it could get warm but I would just unzip one of the doors and that helped regulate it. I definitely recommend this tent and stove for winter camping! Man, totally forgot to answer you about the inner tent! There was zero condensation and there was enough of an air gap between the two walls that heat enveloped the inner tent. I stayed almost too warm most of the night.

We’ve tried a few but her feet are too small for any of the good brands we’ve found. I keep close watch on her when it’s cold to make sure she’s doing ok and put her under my shirt or in the sleeping bag to warm her when she needs it. I also use Musher’s Secret to protect her feet. Nah, at worst you’d just have to cut a bit more. I always suggest having twice what you think you’ll need and having a good sleep system so you aren’t having to get up all night long to keep feeding the fire. It was a great trip. Thanks for watching and reaching out.
