Hi Jeremy, to respond to the question you posed about the camping lifestyle versus the minimalist/bushcraft style...well, i think it makes perfect sense how you feel. It's as if you've come full circle and after years of climbing the ladder, so to speak....you've really reached that pinnacle in the maximal camping world.It'ss time to go back to your roots (if i may be so bold in saying that). Personally, i love every type of camping video you make...youre an expert, and i love learning from you. But i think when it comes to your own happiness, stay true to your soul...you know where that is❤

I agree with other viewers that the variety between simple bush-craft backpacking trips to more involved car-camping scenarios with more gear & comforts, are all cool & interesting to watch. What is always the same is beautiful scenery & photography, your mellow commentary, & Boomer being the cutest camp dog ever! Keep up the great work, & don't be afraid to explore a variety of camping styles. Maybe this is not what you wanted to hear, as you have been liking the minimal lifestyle lately. Take care!

My husband and I worked with boyscouts 15 years when our sons were growing up. My husband was scoutmaster. They’re now 38 and 42. The youngest was a seven palm Eagle Scout and our oldest a 5 Palm Eagle Scout. They went backpacking, camping one weekend every month year round and a week of summer camp every summer. We camped in every weather condition imaginable. One year we took them to Land Between the Lakes in Western Ky. They hiked the trace on their spring break. Over 50 miles to get their 50 mile merit badge. 3 tornados came over us that week. I admire you. How’s your finger? Our friends in Illinois sent my husband an electric handsaw like yours for his birthday. He got it today. Like a kid he’s played with it all day. Love you Boomer. Please don’t delete gizmos and gadgets. I’m 66 and disabled now. You make it remind me maybe I could do it again. Thank-you.
@peterpiper487Ай бұрын
Heck yeah, you could do it again! Never say "never." I'm 74 and I'm still hard core at it. But I bring along my BIG dog for protection. I've ALWAYS camped with big dogs. My dog saved my life once and warned me of danger 3 times, one of the times I would have been attacked if he had not saved me. He's a keeper when it comes to camping. Not sure i could rely on a small dog. Two small dogs were killed in my area while their owners were walking bike trails with these dogs. How sad.

I recently got home from the hospital after major back surgery. Although the meds help, seeing a video posted by you really made me smile and feel better instantly. I love camping and seeing you right now out there in the woods, for me, is close to being there. Thank you and thank you Boomer for being such a great dog personality. I do hope one day, Boomer finds that illusive "perfect stick" he has been searching for.

Doctors want me to have back surgery, and I am collecting advice. My primary care doctor is my age and after having surgery advised me to do all the rehab I can to avoid it, and another told me it was miraculous and he is so much better. Right now, I am doing all I can with stretches and strength work at age 78, trying to avoid it...
@roberta498929 күн бұрын
@@vonheise Here is what I think...There are some conditions that only surgery can cure. All the rehab and chiropractic won't help it. Then there are some conditions that rehab and chiropractic can help. Medicine and surgery technology advances everyday. Robots, AI and better surgeons are out there. Please see a Neurosurgeon, not an Orthopedic surgeon. My surgery was absolutely the only path to reduced pain and increased movement. Educate yourself about the procedure they want to do. Check on your surgeon's education. I feel fortunate, my surgeon studied at Stanford and graduated from Harvard medical school. If I was going to trust a surgeon, I don't know of better qualifications. GOOD LUCK! By the way I am 70.

Thank you for putting the effort forth to create this video. It was fun to watch. Your dilemma of where things have progressed vs. where your channel started reminds me of a favorite quote from Edward Albee: “Sometimes it's necessary to go a long distance out of the way in order to come back a short distance correctly.” Wherever you go from here, you’ll find fulfillment as long as you’re doing what you truly want to do.

I like the mix. I like the Bushcraft because as a crafter/maker, I like seeing the different things you do to make a camp. But I also like the vehicle camps. I have mobility issues and walk with a cane. I can no longer camp by means of long hikes in and a great deal of time spent sitting on the ground cooking. So vehicle camping is more practical for me...but I love watching you set up camp and doing your thing, the hikes you take to get there...because those are all things I used to do when I went camping so I enjoy seeing you do it. Continue with the mix. That way, you don't get bored, you continue to grow your medium and there is something for all of us out here in the KZbin verse ❤❤

Nice video Jeremy!! Personally I LOVE the simple trips when I am solo!! However; when the other half is going with me I really have to lean towards the close to the vehicle and more elaborate setups. This setup you have here is perfect for the trip for 2 and set up as a basecamp to hike, bike and paddle from and then return to at the end of the day. I wouldn't want to pack up and move this setup more than once or twice even for a short week long adventure. I really love you testing out all the new equipment and gadgets! Jeff

The camp you have seems more appropriate for multiple people-which is rare for me. I still like the idea of adding some lightweight luxuries but I still defer to minimalist styles. I like the balance of both bushcraft and modern conveniences when it makes sense, but I think your camps will determine the difference-which you already do a fine job of managing. For my part, I prefer not to see over-the-top setups that require a lot of work-this isn't how I camp, and I imagine many others feel the same way. Thanks for the videos-keep up the good work!

I'm new to bushcraft and have never gone camping. I like all your videos: your basic camping gear videos; your "what-if I'm in the woods and must survive a night or two" videos; and your luxury gear videos. I learn something from all of them. I learn the most from your bushcraft videos because I know nothing about bushcraft. But even your luxury gear videos demonstrate products I've not seen before. For instance, I was surprised when you whipped out the mini chargeable chainsaw. I got to see you use it without buying one. The next time you use it, please share your opinion, if you feel comfortable doing so. I've never put up a tent so I watch closely when you do it, to learn. I've never cooked on a camp stove or lit a fire, now I know how, thank you. I like learning and you make it look easy. Thanks for discussing hard and soft woods, their differences, and how to avoid embers on a tent roof. I don't know those things and they're very helpful to know. In this video I liked your close ups of inserting the poles into the tents. It's nice to know how to set up various structures. Your closeups when you're doing a specific task help. I was surprised in your recent video when you set up branches and slept in a minicave of them. I'd never seen that before or even heard of it. Now I know how to do it. I like that you explained why you built it the way you did. In your other videos I like that you show how to inflate a sleep mat. Before you demonstrated it, I didn't know such a product existed. Please list the manufacturers of the products you use and/or prefer in your videos in the description. Linking them would be nice but just naming them in the description is enough. For example what's the name of the negative 30 degree sleeping bag you use? I didn't know a negative 30 degree sleeping bag existed until you said so. What's the brand name and length of the axe you use? What is your opinion about cheap, medium quality, and best-in-class axes? What should I look for in an axe? Do you mind fishing? Would you consider fishing, explaining how to fish, how to select fishing poles, how to gut and cook a fish? If you prefer not to fish, I understand. I've always wanted to fish but my father doesn't like fishing so would never take me when I asked. I learn a lot of high value information from your videos. Whatever you want to do, including minimalist camping experiences that are more challenging for you, is all good as far as I'm concerned. Thank you

Some UK YT'er friends have those tents big and good waterproof. The window is nice. Damn big takes space. Sturdy. Plenty of room. Use a floor on one side to sleep on. Pretty good design. Enough height to sit on a regular chair and stand up. Not bad. Good cot comes in handy. About to turn winter in Nova Scotia looks like. Flowers and trees blooming down here in east Kentucky USA. Crazy. The second season. People are crazy, mean well. Yeah Boomers 4WD. Simple is great. However when driving a big camp is good especially in bad weather. Some pack a hot tent and titanium stove in a long ways. Still fix a simple but good meal. Not hot water in a bag. "Going Solo" from UK does a great job. When with a dog space is good when soaking wet winter weather. A good rotation of vids with both are good. So is van camping as well. Mix it up. Main thing enjoy your life show what you want. All good. It's your life not who's on the other side. Those battery electric hand chain saws are handy as a pocket on a shirt. I have one too. Great. Not noisy either. It might make a mess but you could cut the wood thru the tent door. Next time

i like them both but def prefer the simplistic bushcraft style. different situations i think call for more. by yourself, weather, terrain, resources i think all play a factor. i’ve always done the hammock camping or just a pad on the ground but now that i’m getting into the hot tenting i love it.
