Hot Toys collectors taking a big “L”?

For me the likeness is there. That wasn't the issue to me, it was the expression. I probably would have just gone with a neutral look if I were Hot Toys. I feel they lack on expressive head sculpts with some exceptions like Margot's Harley.

I was also excited for this. Sad to see the headsculpt. Body and armss look pretty good though. Maybe get a custom headsculpt??

For me the face sculpt doesn’t matter as long as the arms are accurate

3rd party Toys era one had better sculpt and very close to this at a fraction of price.

Yes there are but the percentage is super small that nail them 100% in my opinion

as far as ock maybe they may change sculpt before release if it is criticized OR another company makes better head sculpt. although it is more $.

these days another company will make it OR hot toys will re release or make an updated version. examples are heath ledger joker figure because of inart or a black panther update rerelease with a better head sculpt and accessories because Maxnut made a better head sculpt than their initial release. whenever another company profits on one of their releases they notice but that's all toy companies much like takara and fans toys with transformers.

I’ve already seen some custom people doing head scopes, which looks pretty awesome but custom head scope means custom price. I’ll always be on the lookout for something I won’t deny that.

This is kinda where I am with the Supergirl. You know we won't get another one of Sasha. So even if it's not perfect or updated, I know I'm not going to cancel it. I will just bite the bullet, take the L and get the representation.

I have the Doc Ock deluxe on order. That one picture looks terrible but overall i actually don't think it's that bad. especially with the glasses. Will have to wait to see him in hand. As an exo-6 collector I have to face this question all the time because some sculpts are subpar but we'll never see those characters again in sixth scale form so i buy the figures knowing i may not be happy.

Just put him far back in your display with the glasses on. In regards to Doc Brown I have him with his back turned to avoid the face sculpt, Lol!

I hope we get a 1/12 scale version of Ock. I will say the tentacles and head sculpt couldve been way better but I'm happy we at least got him in this format.

Sh figuarts has done all three spidermen from NWH and they're doing green gobby in December I believe. Hopefully they continue the line?

@@funkin-fungoid I'd be okay if they even did just Goblin, Octavius and Electro as nice as it would be to have all 5. They also released a NWH iron spider suit which would be a missed opportunity to have a Doc Ock to display with it

I agree with "taking the 'L'" ... EXO-6 is a great example.. I wanted a Kirk and a Spock. And I REALLY wanted a 7 of 9. Are they the BEST? Hell NO.. But we will likely never get anther figure of them.. So you take the 'L'.

Well to give this more context other streamers today also said they didnt like the sculpt and were still buying it so im not the only one. Also im being brutally honest about this side of collecting. Theres figures we buy or intend to buy that end up not being what we expect them to be. How many people have doc brown part 1 when the majority didn’t care for the sculpt? How many own the Batman Begins Batman knowing the issues that’s had but they want the representation in the collection. As collectors we all take an L at one point or another some just may not be forthcoming about admitting it. Not to mention 3rd party figures which sell all the time and 90% of them if not more don’t resemble the character yet people buy them. Appreciate your feedback 🤙

@@mr.momcollectibles I'm pretty sure that there are many collectors who feel the same way that I do. So, I'm sure that I'm not the only one. There are also others who don't have the money to waste on figures just because they felt pressured to own them and take the 'L" because some guy on KZbin says that it's a must have even though it's crap. I'll admit that there are a few figures that didn't look like what they were supposed to look like when in hand. They were quickly sold. I'll agree to disagree on what you said about "3rd Party" figures. More than 85% are better than mainstream Sellers. But I guess it's all subjective. I guess "to each his or her own", but I don't and wouldn't waste money on subpar figures and take the "L." Take care and happy collecting.
