Yeah I’m going to pass on purchasing the Mark 85 unless they re release it with the proper head sculpt. Shame on Sideshow and Hot Toys for this. I expect better from them. Not even the battle damaged version comes with the correct head sculpt. Not sure why it was even a limited window to get a replacement.

I got mine through Sideshow and I never received any information about the head swap deadline because I don’t have social media other then IG. When I called Sideshow to see if there was any way I could still swap, they said no. When I asked why they didn’t communicate it better through email with their customers, they said that they received specific instruction from Hot Toys not to do that.. absolutely bummed because that initial head is a no go for me…

I am sad about this also I wasn't aware the program was even happening. I was also moving houses at the time so I wasn't keeping up with any of the social media and videos. I am okay with the original head sculpt but seeing this one makes me a bit jealous because it is so much better lol. The old one isn't bad in my opinion but just not right on like this one but I will likely not even display it with the head sculpt and I don't have quantum suit Tony so no other fig for me to put him on

Hi Justin! I’m really happy that they offered the offered an option to get another head sculpt. So this review is a much smaller box and not entirely a full figure. TBH they could have just issued the new sculpt upon request without having to send in the original one. I agree I like the new version better. It is a noticeable difference and the eyes are different too. The subtle changes make such a big difference. They should offer the head sculpt as a separated purchase as far as I’m concerned. It does look fantastic on both figure bodies. Fact if the matter is that this combination of hair, skin color and shape, expression, eyes and brow feels most like stark. Thanks for the video 😊💎

I've been sitting on the self on this figure.. Whether or not to get this one, or wait for the battle damage version. One of the things putting me off is that original head sculpt. After watching this video, it still seems a little unclear. If I purchase this now, would it come with the new sculpt, if not, am I still in the window to swap it out? If new batches coming into stock do have the new head sculpt, it would be great if retailers can indicate this on the product page. They both look old. The original is simply inaccurate to how RDJ’s head is shaped. His chin/jaw area isn’t as narrow as the original head sculpt made it look and his forehead isn’t that big. They made his head look like an upside down pear

If from sideshow, the answer is no. They updated their pictures. The deadline has passed. On other websites, some do offer the Mk85 with the new headsculpt

I too am very confused as to how and why that switch happened in the first place. this sculpt was in the prototype pics, it's in the instruction manual, and it was obviously far along in development because it didn't take long to get these heads sent out. So where did that first batch head come from and why? Still, at least they addressed and sorted it!

If you didn't submit a request for the new headsculpt before May 31st, you won't be receiving it. The pictures on Sideshow are updated with the OG headsculpt such that everyone knows what they're getting.

So I called Sideshow, confirmed that anyone that did not know about the claim by May 31st is SOL. I don’t use social media, and apparently the link on the site was buried to it being extremely difficult to find it. It does kinda “feel” like they hid it from majority of purchases. An email to customers who made purchases from licensed retailers would have been nice.

nope. You'll be getting the original headsculpt. If you look through the pictures, sideshow updated them with the original head so that there's no confusion. I know it's not what you want to hear but it's true. The deadline for a replacement headsculpt already passed.

Hey Justin, there's this third party head sculpt from Galy Toys Plus. It's named, " I Love You Three Thousand ". I got it from Comic Santorum. There were some eBay, but sellers were saying they were out of stock, so I'm guessing it's pretty popular. I recommend you to check it out. In my opinion, the GT PLUS head sculpt has a far better resemblance to RDJ than the Hot Toys figures, but has a lesser quality in the paint detail. Keep up the cool reviews 👍.

my guess on why they don't sell the head sculpt is because of the margin between profit and the cost to produce the headsculpt (licensing etc).

It looks better the new one, but since I don't use the Tony HS with my Ironmans I'm fine with the one it came with...now I believe the Mark 50 head sculpt is the same the mark 46 CW has, so this head sculpt goes all the way back to the Mark 46, so at the end I'm not missing the new HS, because I have the 46 CW (maybe just the hair style but that doesn't bothers me)
