Interesting color choice for a variant, I've always liked Tony's kind of camo grey with neon orange tracksuit he wears before he wraps himself with the Mark 50. And I think this color scheme works well here on the Mark 50 suit Bummer tho they........cheaped out on the holographic shield

The shield is actually a difficult thing to get right. the more rigid you make plastic, the more brittle it becomes, and in large, thin pieces like that, it's going to be very susceptible to snapping. They have two solutions, either make it thick and heavy, and probably very plasticky and toy like, or make it out of a more flexible plastic, like they have done, and although it feels cheaper, probably looks much more screen accurate and better on display.

I think the Neon Tech Series armors are beautiful and look great with my custom multi-color led lighting. I just started collecting Hot Toys so this was a nice series to start with as well as the Mark IV Holographic version. Just missing the first Neon Teck Mark IV.

I know I'm late replying to this and it doesn't really matter but to me it seems more like one of those weapons he used during his fight with cull obsidian, they really only appear for a split second but as an iron man super fan of course I've watched that scene over and over in slow motion to catch every weapon I can see.

The shield is most likely done in that plastic to cut down cost, as large chunks of plastic that size generally start to increase costs quite a bit. Whether or not that changed anything on the consumer end, who knows.

Honestly, it’s a pretty cool color scheme. If I didn’t have my mk50 red suit I probably pick this one up because I think it would look good next to the mk4 warmachine. But since I already have the other one I’ll probably pass only because no funds currently.

i hate to be that guy but i actually liked the clam shell shield for this, i had a tiny LED flexi filimant strip that i attached to the bottom of the shield and when turn on the whole shield looks like its made of glowing energy i know this is a VERY niche case

This is actually a very good looking figure and the shield is pretty amazing. I wish they've done something like this with the MK 50 accessory set.

I feel like the color of the faceplate is the only part that needed to be changed. As it is, it kinda just disappears amidst all the other black. I wish it had been painted the same matte gray he has on the other parts of his armor. That way, I feel it would have stood out a little more---like how the original gold faceplate stands out from the traditional red on most of Tony's other armors. That said, I still do like the fact there even _are_ alternate color versions of established armors like the Neon Tech series!

Looks cool, but the shoulder joints on this one break. My original MK50 came with arms broken off inside the packaging as did the replacement. Others had the same problem. Known issue that I don't trust on this one either.

That blaster piece was actually on the concept when we first saw it. And he used it briefly during the New york battle against Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian. You wonr notice it cause it was so brief for like 2 frames and thats it. He was knocked back and thats the end of it.

Justin, I have to disagree with you there. Although the chosen material of the holo shield is thin plastic it is the way to go. I own the third party version which you have reviewed previously, you know the elbow joint will not hold up that solid plastic. The shield must be weightless in order for that elbow joint to hold it up. The objective is to sell the illusion and that they’ve done.

I hated especially the battery compartments on the arms for the MK 50. First you have to find the panel for the battery compartment then a different one for the switch. When I preordered my BD MK 85 I debated whether I should get that shield. There was just something about it that did not appeal.

A 100 years from now, it would be cool if instead of having so many hands and little parts, toys would probably have actual nanotechnology in them which could let us change the position of their hands, fingers, legs, etc and also lets us make them equip whatever technology we want... like, if we need this iron man to switch to his blast Canon repulsors, instead of having to pull his hand out and attach it, if the figure would be able to just switch to it directly like in the movie and switch back to normal hands once we're done having fun... imagine how cool that'd be lol...

Justin, I think you may have mixed up one of the special edition extra weapons. I believe the Katar and a second lobster claw are what come with the limited 200 piece special edition and that double bladed weapon is actually part of the standard exclusive edition. Excellent review as always though.

I was keen on getting this as my first and only one from the Neon line , when I saw the pictures . However I don't like the orange . The pictures made it look red and I would have liked that . I am also not sure why they re used the orange colour , every Neon has been a different colour so red would have been good .

while this is cool. a better thing would be a comic homage. because the mark 85 was their take of the classic model 4 with the extra gold to balance colour better than just red with a gold face like the 50 and 45 etc. a stealth version of the 85 maybe with the two pointy shoulder pads. something like that. especially that the mk 50 is a bit of a peg warmer. I mean it was released after the solicitation of the 85 so loads skipped and now the 50 is still on sideshow's front page
